Texas Longhorns

Texas has a Betting on NCAA Football record of 4-1 straight up and 2-3 vs. the line.  Three of their games have gone under the total.  Although the Horns won at Kansas State last week 19-14 they did not cover as 8.5-point chalks.  Despite not paying the win was huge in that the Wildcats have owned Texas in recent years.  Longhorn coach Tom Herman caught plenty of heat after the week one loss at Maryland.  In turn the Horns responded with improved play ever since.  Defensively Texas ranks 29th overall in the country.

Quarterback Problem Solved

Tom Herman has also solved the Texas quarterback problem.  Granted, Sam Ehlinger does not put up eye-popping numbers.  But what Ehlinger does do is manage games and not make mistakes.  In the same way Texas now has a clear-cut starter which allows them to focus on other areas of improvement.

Oklahoma Sooners

Oklahoma has an Offshore bookmaker record of 5-0 straight up but 2-3 against the spread.  Four of the Sooners five games have gone over the total.  Fashion last week’s 66-33 home payout over Baylor.  Murray threw for 432 yards and six touchdowns in the victory.  And this was despite the fact he was benched at the start of the game for missing a meeting.  Oklahoma boasts the nation’s 12th ranked offense.  However, defense remains a perpetual problem with the Sooners.  For example, OU ranks 89th in the country for total defense.

 Mike Stoops

Mike Stoops continues to be under fire as Oklahoma defensive coordinator.  First, he was a left over from predecessor Bob Stoops.  Stoops was instrumental in getting Lincoln Riley named as OU head coach.  Following that is the political mess of having to keep Mike Stoops on the job.  Because of this the defense continues to flounder for Oklahoma.

Team vs Team

By reason of their mediocrity over the past several seasons Texas has surprising marks in this series.  To illuminate the Longhorns have covered the spread five straight times against Oklahoma.  Additionally, three of the last five in the Red River Shootout have gone under the total.

Matchup to Watch

A clear difference in this matchup is offensive firepower.  Certainly, Oklahoma has the huge Betting on NCAA Football advantage with Murray.  On this occasion the Sooners attack should eventually wear down the Longhorns.  Furthermore, it’s not realistic to expect Texas to keep pace.

Texas vs. Oklahoma Betting on NCAA Football Picks

To conclude Kyler Murray and Oklahoma should prove to be too much in the Red River Shootout.
