Vanderbilt Commodores vs. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Notre Dame Top Betting on NCAA Football Choice over Vanderbilt

Following their statement making win over Michigan it was no surprise that Notre Dame would suffer a letdown in their next game.  The Fighting Irish did get a 24-16 win over Ball State last week.  But they were never a betting on NCAA Football threat to cover the 34-point spread.  Still, Notre Dame was able to stave off disaster and maintain their top ten status nationally.  Vanderbilt has impressed in two games against Group of Five competition but will now find out their actual worth.  Since head coach James Franklin departed the Commodores have fallen back to their losing ways.

Vanderbilt Commodores

Derek Mason had a tough act to follow when he replaced Franklin in 2014.  Above all Franklin was seen to have done the impossible at Vanderbilt. Franklin led the program to three consecutive bowl berths.  What’s more Franklin led the Commodores to back to back nine-win seasons.  To summarize he worked a Betting on NCAA Football miracle.  After all nobody had ever done as well at Vandy.  Which made Mason’s job all the more difficult.  So too has four consecutive losing seasons since he took over.  Therefore the 2-0 start both straight up and vs. the line is important.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish

Notre Dame started strong last year and was in the thick of the playoff race.  But a blowout loss at Miami killed their post season dreams.  In fact, the Fighting Irish faded badly down the stretch to finish 10-3.  At the beginning of this season there were plenty of questions about which team Irish team fans would get.  And while the Michigan win was impressive the Ball State overlay was not.  Likewise, the Irish offense that ranks 95th nationally is a worry.

Brandon Wimbush

Commencing with quarterback Brandon Wimbush the Irish offensive woes are revealed.  To show, Wimbush has a completion percentage of just 54.5.  Along the same lines he has just one touchdown pass with four interceptions.  Further, Vanderbilt’s strength is a defense that ranks 11th nationally for points allowed.

Stats to Consider

Vanderbilt has been a subpar offshore bookmaker play as a road dog.  To demonstrate the Commodores covered just five of their last 14 games in that role.  Seven of Vandy’s last 11 as away pups wend under the total.  Balanced against that is Vandy’s mark of eight payouts in 11 games as double-digit road dogs.

Team vs. Team

Notre Dame has been an inconsistent home favorite lately.  To begin with the Irish have split their last 10 games vs. the line in that situation.  Three of Dame’s last four as a home chalk went under the total.  Additionally, Notre Dame is 3-5 against the spread as a double-digit home chalk.  Four of their last six in that place went over the total.

Matchup to Watch

Vanderbilt’s defense matches up well vs. the lethargic Notre Dame offense.  As mentioned earlier the big Betting on NCAA Football spread trends favor the Commodores.
