At the beginning of the 2023 College Football Betting season are important changes for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Nebraska hired Matt Rhule as its new head coach after favorite son Scott Frost flopped miserably from 2018-2022. Certainly, Rhule is a proven college football coach. Rhule turned around the Temple and Baylor football programs before moving on to the NFL Caroline Panthers. Nebraska was aggressive on the transfer portal. 2023 Nebraska Cornhuskers Preview

Nebraska must overcome several tough offshore bookmaker opponents as they move through their 2023 football campaign. To illuminate, the Cornhuskers will face Michigan, who went 13-0 before losing to the TCU Horned Frogs in the Fiesta Bowl this September. Also, the Big Red will take on the Luke Fickell-led Wisconsin Badgers in November. Fickell, a former co-defensive coordinator for the Ohio State Buckeyes, spent the last six seasons as the head coach of the Cincinnati Bearcats. Subsequently, he was hired to coach Wisconsin in November.

Last time that Nebraska competed in a bowl game was in 2016. That was when the Cornhuskers fell to the Tennessee Volunteers in the Music City Bowl. Nebraska suffered a 38-24 College Football Betting loss at Nissan Stadium.
If Nebraska can bolt to a decent start and win games over Minnesota, Colorado, Northern Illinois, and Louisiana Tech, they will have a solid chance at making a bowl game. In like manner, Colorado has undergone a few massive changes of its own. Namely, hiring Jackson State coach Deion Sanders in December after going 1-11 the season before.

A New Lease on Life for a Program, Coach, and QB

Offensively, gamblers and fans been waiting for a competent offensive coordinator to tailor their scheme to fit Jeff Sims’ dynamic dual-threat capabilities. Certainly, Chip Long was not the guy to do it at Georgia Tech last year. But perhaps new OC Marcus Satterfield can harness Sims’ potential.

Consider that Satterfield orchestrated Rhule’s potent offenses at Temple from 2013-15. Correlate, the Owls finished the season ranked 13th overall in the nation before Matt Rhule took the Baylor job. Satterfield has been on every staff Rhule has coached for the last decade. And he is a trusted lieutenant who will have plenty of autonomy running the offense.

Sims is a former four-star prospect from Jacksonville, Fla. Following three seasons with Georgia Tech, he transferred to Nebraska. In sum, Sims recorded 1,115 passing yards and five passing touchdowns in the seven games he played for the Yellow Jackets in 2022. Also, He threw for as many as 314 yards during a 27-10 loss to UCF in December.

If Sims can work well with Nebraska’s newer and returning receiving options, he will have the opportunity for a breakout season. And that can help boost an offense that took 11th place in the Big Ten after it scored 22.6 points per game.
