NCAA Week 8 Recap for Teams Ranked 6-10

In NCAA football Week 8, with the 6th to 10th ranked teams, the No. 6 Auburn Tigers had a bye week after suffering their 1st loss to the No. 1 Mississippi State, who also had a bye week. Let’s take a look at the other teams who played.

Thus, we start with our brief recap of those top teams, starting with the No. 7 Alabama Crimson Tide now 6-1 who at home, beat the Texas A&M Aggies now 5-3 keeping the Aggies scoreless and winning 59-0. The Tide scored 10 points in 1s quarter, 35 points in the 2nd quarter, going to half with the score 45-0 for the Tide. The 2nd half Alabama scored a TD in both 3rd and 4th quarters, bringing the final score Alabama 59 and A&M 0. The Alabama defense shut down the nations 4th leading offense and controlled the game. The Alabama offense outgained the Aggies 602 total yards to 172 for the game.

The Aggies started out their season strong, winning their 1st three games, and since has lost three straight games to teams ranked in the top 10. The Aggies before this NCAA game were averaging 565 yards and in this game had 172 yards offense, and were only able to acquire 8 first downs, while the Tide had 30 first downs. The media says the Aggies have fallen over the cliff in October with no NCAA  wins.

The next game for the Texas A&M Aggies 5-3 is at home against UL Monroe Warhawks 3-3 at Kyle Field on the 1st of Nov. The Alabama Crimson Tide 6-1 play at the Tennessee Volunteers 3-4 on Saturday the 25th of October at the Neyland Stadium with NCAA game time at 7:30PM ET.


The No. 8 Michigan State Spartans now 6-1 roared past the unranked Indiana Hoosiers now 3-4, as the Spartans scored 7 points in the 1st and 3rd quarters, and 21 points in the 2nd and 4th quarters. The Hoosiers were only able to score 3 points in the 1st and 14 points in the 2nd for their game total points of 17. Final score was MSU 56 Indiana 17.

This is the 1st NCAA  game in 2014 that the Spartans were able to put a game away, as their QB Cook threw 3 TD passes and RB Langford rushed for 3 touchdowns, and their defense shutout the Hoosiers in the 2nd half.

The Hoosiers actually had the half time 17-14 but never scored again in the game. The Hoosiers prior to this game lost both QB’s to injuries and their starter this week true freshman QB Diamont who completed 5 of 11 for 11 yards, and scored on a 9 yard TD run. Indiana was only able to account for 7 first downs in this game with 11 yards passing and 213 rushing.

The Spartans who are the reigning Rose Bowl Champs now have managed five straight wins overall and six consecutive over Indiana, and 13 straight wins over Big Ten teams going back to last year’s title game. They also have set a school record with eight straight wins on road games in conference games. The Spartans for game made 30 first downs with 662 total yards from 332 passing and 332 rushing.

Next the Indiana Hoosiers now 3-4 play at the Michigan Wolverines 3-4 on Saturday November 1st 2014. The Michigan State Spartans now 6-1 at home play the Michigan Wolverines 3-4 on Saturday Oct.25th at 3:30PM ET at the Spartan Stadium and will be on ABC TV.


The No. 9 Oregon Ducks now 6-1 steamed past the Washington Huskies 5-2 as the Ducks extend their win streak over the Huskies to 11 consecutive games with the 45-20 win on Saturday. The Ducks QB Mariota completed 24 for 336 yards and 2 touchdowns and RB Freeman scored 4 touchdowns on his 169 yards rushing. The Duck came close to doubling the statistics over the Huskies in the game with 29 first downs for Ducks and 20 for the Huskies as the Ducks had 554 total yards and the Huskies had 317.

The Huskies were able to manage 6 points on 2 FG’s in the first quarter and 7 points in the 3rd and 4th quarters for their total score of 20 points. The Ducks scored 7 points in the 1st and 3rd quarters and 21 in the 2nd and 10 in the 4th quarter for their total 45 points.

The team leaders for the Huskies were QB Miles, who was 19 of 28 for 147 yards and 1 TD with 1 interception. RB’s Ross & Williams had 7 carries for combine 72 yards with Williams scoring a TD. Receivers Cooper & Coleman had 9 receptions combined and Cooper scored a TD. For the Ducks their QB Mariota threw for 2 touchdowns, while RB’s Freeman & Marshall had 34 carries for 199 yards combined with Freeman scoring 4 times. Receivers Brown & Carrington had 8 receptions combined for 178 yards.

The Huskies 5-2 next Saturday the 25th of October 2014 play at home the now No. 14 Arizona State Sun Devils 5-1 at Husky Stadium at 10:45 PM ET. The Oregon Ducks 6-1 play at California Golden Bears 4-3 with the game played at Levi Stadium on Friday Oct.24th at 10PM ET on Fox TV.


The No. 10 Georgia Bulldogs now 6-1 played at the Arkansas Razorbacks now 3-4 and Georgia won the game 45-32 and had their 2nd straight win on the road. The freshman Bulldog RB Chubb had another great game as he had 30 carries for 202 yards and 2 touchdowns, and now for his two games, substituting for suspended RB Curley, Chubb has 68 carries for 345 rushing yards. The Bulldog defense controlled the game and overwhelmed the Razorbacks in the first half leading 38-6. But Arkansas did not quit, despite the score they came back to close the score 45-32 halfway through the 4th quarter. However, the comeback just too late, as they lost their 16 SEC game in a row. In the first half QB Allen after back to back sacks was knocked out of the game temporarily, thus they slowed down until he returned in the 2nd half.

The Razorbacks 3-4 play at home on Oct.25th against UAB Blazers 4-3 at 12PM ET at Razorback Stadium. The Bulldogs 6-1 play their next game at home on Saturday the 1st of Nov. against the Florida Gators 3-3 at 3:30PM ET and on CBS TV.

Now the NCAA football fanatics who bet on college football at a sportsbook, it might be advantageous to check closely the upcoming games with the Top 10 teams, since many are in bye weeks, this next week No.9.
