2023 LSU Tigers Preview
Brian Kelly is not a guy to have a beer with. But he is the right man to lead your football program to glory. The 2022 season is a great online betting example of Kelly’s ability. Most important of all, LSU beat Alabama in the process. The great season and strong recruiting have set expectations at an entirely new level for the 2023 campaign.
Brian Kelly’s College Football Betting debut in Baton Rouge was successful after LSU won 10 games and knocked off Alabama to claim the SEC West title. The Bayou Bengals aim to take another step forward in ’23 and earn a trip to the CFB Playoff. Certainly, the Tigers have the pieces in place to make a run. Quarterback Jayden Daniels leads an improving offense. At the same time, the defense is loaded with talent. Including preseason All-Americans Harold Perkins and Maason Smith.
The November road trip to Tuscaloosa to take on the Crimson Tide will likely decide whether or not LSU repeats as the champ of the SEC West. In 2023 LSU doesn’t play Georgia and Tennessee. Additionally, LSU doesn’t have to deal with South Carolina, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt. Instead, it gets Missouri and the annual date with Florida. The game with the Gators might be in Death Valley. But it’s coming right off the showdown against Alabama. Missouri is manageable, but it’s the end of a road run of three away games in four weeks.
In comparison to Florida’s trip to Utah and Alabama’s date with Texas, LSU might have the toughest September non-conference game. To show, the Tigers have a showdown against Florida State. FSU joins LSU among the top future market teams coming into the season. Correlate the October game against Army, and the team doesn’t get a ton of weeks off.
In addition to that game against FSU, there are only two dates in Baton Rouge before mid-October. But there’s an advantage to that. Five of the last six games are at home. Following that portion is a week off before the lone road date in the stretch to Alabama.
If the defense comes together, with the players LSU has returning on offense, the Tigers could be the favorites to repeat as SEC West champions. But can they take a step further and make the College Football Playoff? At a minimum, they’d have to split with Florida State and Alabama and run the table in the other ten games. Yet it is within their reach.
