Liberty Bowl Betting Odds, Stats and Picks: Missouri vs. Oklahoma State

Liberty Bowl Missouri Tigers vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys

Up against a lot of negativity since 2015 were the Missouri Tigers.  Head coach Barry Odom took over the program in the aftermath of campus protests and tumult.  While it has bot been easy Odom has turned the corner.  Mizzou is bowling for the second consecutive season.  Extending that betting on NCAA Football success was a strong finish to the schedule.  The Tigers won their final four games to catch national attention.  Most important of all they finished in the black on the wagering board.  Conversely the Oklahoma State Cowboys finished in the red this year.

Missouri Tigers

Late on did Missouri finish strong to impress everyone and earn Barry Odom an extension.  Mizzou won their last four games with three payouts.  Last time out was a 38-0 betting on NCAA Football home cover against Arkansas.  As a result, the Tigers are 8-4 straight up, 7-5 vs. the odds, and 6-5-1 over the total.  Mizzou was tied with South Carolina for fourth place in the SEC East Division.  In turn Missouri has national rankings of 19th for scoring offense and 44th for points allowed.  In particular the defense showed vast improvement.

Oklahoma State Cowboys

By reason of a 6-6 straight up record did Oklahoma State suffer a very disappointing season.  More emphatically the Cowboys were expected to contend for the Big 12 championship.  OSU started 3-0 after 44-21 home payout over Boise State.  But from there the Pokes appeared to be reading their own headlines and were sloppy the rest of the way.  OSU was 6-6 vs. the line with 8-4 over the total.  Along the same lines was a poor finish of three losses in their final four games.  Okie State ranks 14th for scoring offense but 100th for total defense.

Stats to Consider

Certainly, Mizzou quarterback Drew Lock is an offshore bookmaker asset.  To illuminate Lock threw for 3125 yards passing with 25 touchdowns.  Additionally, Larry Roundtree III provided strong support with 1012 yards rushing.  Emanuel Hall was Lock’s most dangerous receiver with 21.6 yards per catch.

Team vs. Team

Mike Gundy’s Oklahoma State team has been a solid bet as an away dog.  To show the Pokes have covered six of their last eight games getting points on the road.  Four of their last six in that situation have gone under the total.  Conversely Mizzou has not been profitable laying points away from home in recent games.  As an example, the Tigers have paid in just three of their last seven in that situation.  Five of their last eight as road chalks have gone over the total.

Matchup to Watch

Mizzou has the betting on NCAA Football matchup edge with both Lock and their defense.  Compared to Oklahoma State Mizzou is a good defensive team.  In contrast the Cowboys stop unit was rendered helpless in most of their games.  Most important of all the Tigers have great momentum for their program now.
