On Saturday Purdue lost at home to Northwestern 27-20. As a result, the Boilermakers are 2-1 straight up and 1-2 vs. the line. Minnesota is 1-3 straight up and against the spread. What’s more, the Gophers are coming off a 35-7 loss to Iowa.
Of major concern for Minnesota is a defense that’s now an offshore betting liability. An offense that can’t stay on the field adds to the crisis. Quarterback Tanner Morgan was the hero of the state one season ago. Now he is being ripped for a massive drop in productivity. Morgan had a 180.4 rating in 2019. Contrarily his 2020 rating is 123.4. And he has gone from a 28/6 to 4/4 touchdown/interception ratio.
Purdue is known for its great passing attacks. Coach Jeff Brohm is instrumental in getting this program jumpstarted. So too do the Boilermakers have defensive problems. But they have been able to outscore their opponents.

In like manner is Scott Satterfield struggling at Louisville. He led the Cardinals to a surprise 8-5 season in 2019. But the Ville has fallen back for 2020. So far neither side of the line has proven to be an asset
