FIU Meets Toledo in Bahamas Bowl Bet on College Football Action!

Bahamas Bowl Florida International Golden Panthers vs. Toledo Rockets

Certainly, few Group of Five college football programs have been more successful than Toledo.  The Rockets are regular contenders for the bet on College Football Bowl season and consistent Mid-American Conference contenders.  In fact, Toledo is a program that many other Group of Five teams would like to emulate.  Namely one of those teams is Florida International.  The Golden Panthers have been considered a program with vast potential.  Nonetheless they have continued to fall short most years.  Under the leadership of head coach Butch Davis Florida International has a proven program builder.  And 2018 was a major building block.

Toledo Rockets

Toledo has a bet on College Football record of 7-5 straight up, 6-6 vs. the odds, and 8-4 over the total.  Accordingly, the Rockets finished third in the Mid-American Conference West Division.  Most important of all Toledo finished strong with four payouts in their last five games.  An offense that ranked 11th best in the country for scoring triggers the Rockets success.  Balanced against that is a defense that ranked 94th nationally.

Florida International

Florida International brings a sportsbook record of 8-4 straight up, 9-3 against the spread, and 7-5 over the total.  As a result, the Golden Panthers finished second in the Conference USA East Division.  By reason of three straight payouts to end the season did FIU impress all at the end.  Offensively the Golden Panthers were effective and finished 30th in the nation for scoring.  Contrarily the defense was middle of the road and ranked 46th for points allowed.

Important Names on the Field

Quarterback Eli Peters ignites the Toledo attack.  Peters threw for 15 touchdown passes with just seven interceptions.  In a similar way did running back Bryant Koback impress.  Koback led the Rockets with 875 yards rushing, 6.3 yards per carry with 13 touchdowns.  Simultaneously FIU quarterback James Morgan is a force.  Morgan posted a 157.6 rating with 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Team vs. Team

Florida International has struggled to maintain board value getting points on the road.  On the whole the Golden Panthers had covered just two of their last six matchups in that role.  Seven of their last eight as away pups have gone over the total.  Counter to that is the strong betting value shown by Toledo as a road chalk.  As an example, the Rockets have covered 10 of their last 13 laying points away from home.  Seven of their last ten in that situation have gone under the total.

Matchup to Watch

Toledo’s powerful ground attack is a bet on College Football matchup advantage.  Of major concern is the Golden Panthers national ranking of 98th against the rush.  Indeed, Koback should get his share of yards in this bowl game.  So too will that keep the subpar Toledo defense off the field.
