CU Buffs Betting on College Football Favorite over Colorado State Rams

Colorado State Rams vs. Colorado Buffaloes Friday, August 31, 2018

Mike Bobo has kept his head above water as Colorado State’s head coach.  Other than that, his tenure has been rather unremarkable after three years.  For one thing the Rams have posted three consecutive 7-6 seasons.  Simultaneously the Rams have been a poor betting on college football value.  To bring to light CSU paid in just four of 13 games last year.  Also problematic was Colorado State’s collapse down the stretch last year.  Meanwhile the Colorado Buffaloes took a big step back in 2017.  Furthermore, head coach Mike MacIntyre was roasted for abuse allegations against a former assistant.

Fans Against MacIntyre

As a result of a 10-4 record in 2016 expectations grew for Colorado.  Which made their 5-7 record last year a major disappointment.  So too was their terrible betting on college football performance.  As an example, CU paid in just three of 12 tilts for the 2017 season.  Consequently, this has turned many fans against MacIntyre.  Owing to increased attention on violence against women the sixth-year coach is under intense scrutiny.  Namely he is accused of ignoring the issue when promoting a former assistant in 2017.  And then a losing record adds to the toxic culture at Boulder.

DJ Eliot on the Hot Seat

In contrast to 2017 when MacIntyre won National Coach of the Year honors is increased pressure to win.  The end result for 2018 must be a bowl game.  While recruiting has been solid CU is a subpar Pac 12 team.  Following this is the fact they have little margin for error.  To bring to light a major problem is a defense that ranked 109th in the country.  Which means second year coordinator DJ Eliot also has a very hot seat.   New offensive coordinator Darrin Chiaverini must coach quarterback Steven Montez up.  As an example, Montez has struggled to read defenses.

KJ Carta Samuels

Extending Mike Bobo’s challenges at Colorado State is quarterback KJ Carta Samuels.  The graduate transfer has had a crash course in learning the offense.  Consequently, last year’s 98th ranked defense must significantly improve.  CSU failed to cover their final seven games last season.  Additionally, they finished 1-4 straight up.  After that pathetic conclusion the natives are getting quite restless in Fort Collins.

Colorado State Underdog

Colorado State has been a valuable underdog on the board recently.  For example, the Rams have covered seven of their last nine as pups.  Five of their last six in that role have gone over the total.  Conversely Colorado has been a weak betting value lately as a favorite.  Consider they have dropped six of their last eight in that role.  Additionally, CU has gone over the total three straight times as a chalk.

Team vs. Team Stats

Colorado has dominated this head to head sportsbook series.  To show the Buffs have won and covered seven of the last eight meetings.  Additionally, nine of the last ten between these teams went under the total.  Last year Colorado scored a 17-3 win and payout as three-point chalks.

Matchup to Watch

In short Colorado owns this betting on college football series.  Though both teams have problems that is the deciding factor in this game.

College Football Betting Odds Picks

As has been noted the Buffs control the cashier’s cage against the Rams.  Accordingly, Colorado is the call.
