LSU won last week but they were about as unimpressive as a team can be and they did not cover the college football odds against North Carolina.
The Tigers got out to a big lead and then simply quit against an undermanned North Carolina team. Could it be that LSU is just not very good? We might get an idea on Saturday as LSU is a road favorite in college football betting odds at Vanderbilt in a game that can be seen on ESPN U.
LSU is a 10-point favorite at the Sbg sportsbook. The total on the game is 42.5. LSU is ranked 19th in the country but whether they should be ranked at all is in question. If they lost at Vanderbilt they won’t be.
LSU Going For Seven in a Row – The Tigers have owned this series against Vandy. They will be looking for their seventh straight win in the series. The last time Vanderbilt beat LSU was back in 1990. The Tigers have outscored the Commodores 139-42 in the last six meetings. Last year they won 23-9.
Jordan Jefferson – The one positive from last week was the play of quarterback Jordan Jefferson. He went 15 of 21 for 151 yards and two touchdowns in the 30-24 win. The Tigers only gained 313 total yards and they committed five turnovers.
Vanderbilt lost 23-21 last week to Northwestern but they covered the spread. They nearly won the game but they couldn’t make a two-point conversion try. The Commodores had 400 yards of total offense and their defense was solid. Quarterback Larry Smith was 19 of 30 for 240 yards and a touchdown and he rushed for 48 yards. Smith played poorly last year against LSU as he threw for only 88 yards.
LSU Numbers are Bad – If you look at the trends in this game it is hard to like LSU. They are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games. The Tigers are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 conference games. The Tigers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games in September.
