College Football Betting Line Gamblers

College football betting line gamblers can be from all walks of life.

There are professional gamblers who love college football betting odds and there are weekend gamblers as well.

College football betting line public bettors are not as common as in the NFL but there are still a lot of them. The battle at the sports book very often is between the public bettors and the professional bettors in regards to the college football betting line.  You would think the professional bettors would win this battle more often than not and that is usually true, but sometimes the public comes up wins versus the college football betting odds. The sports book sometimes considers anyone that bets a large amount of money a wise guy, but that is really not the case as you consider the college football betting line.

The term “wise guy” refers to the bettor or groups of bettors that move the college football betting line.  Many of these wise guys are referred to as syndicates.  They bet large amounts of money versus the college football betting line and can influence the way a sports betting site moves the college football betting odds.  It used to be where you would see the college football betting line move a great deal and some bettors lived off middling the games just because of all the movement made by the professional bettors.  That is not the case today.

Professional bettors will always exist; they are just less common in today’s sports betting world.   Many major sports betting sites still don’t want professional action versus the college football betting line even though it is not as common or successful as in past years. It is just too risky for them.  Why take a lot of professional money versus the college football betting line when you can take more of the public money?  The public is known as the square money and sportsbooks usually like that money versus the college football betting line.  The NFL is a sport where you get both wise guy, and square money, at the same time, and both can affect the line.

When the oddsmaker sets the college football betting odds at a sportsbook he has to factor in the public money.  Usually that is much more of a factor in the NFL but it still can be a factor versus the college football betting line as well.
