College Football Betting – ESPN’s Late Friday Game should be a Shootout as Houston hosts UTEP

If you like points then the ESPN game on Friday night in college football betting is for you. Houston is home against UTEP and it should be a high scoring shootout to consider as you bet on college football at SBG.  UTEP scored 31 points in their win last week over Arkansas Pine-Bluff while Houston put up 68 against Texas State.  UTEP won 31-10 last week but they are going to have to play a lot better on Friday if they hope to stay with Houston.  Head coach Mike Price is aware the team has to be better than last week when they were only up 14-10 at the half against an inferior Arkansas Pine-Bluff team.

Can UTEP Keep Up – The Miners are going to have to score a lot of points on Friday to keep pace with Houston.  The Miners have Vernon Frazier and Joe Banyard in the backfield and senior quarterback Trevor Vittatoe.  Last year the Miners were able to put up 58 points as they upset Houston.  They might have to score in the 50’s again this year to have a chance to upset the Cougars.

99 Points Last Year – This game had 99 points scored in it last year as UTEP won 58-41.  Do you know the average points total when these two teams meet?  It is over 75 points per game.  Taking the over in this Friday game looks to be the only way to go as you bet on college football.

Case Keenum – A dark horse in the Heisman Trophy race this season is Houston quarterback Case Keenum. He didn’t hurt his chances last week as he went 17-22 for 254 yards with five touchdowns and two interceptions and he didn’t even play the second half. Keenum is now seventh on the all-time NCAA career passing list and moving up fast.

The underdog in this series is 3-0 against the college football betting line in the last three meetings.  It is hard to go against Houston’s high-powered offense but UTEP is capable of scoring points and the trends give them a chance to keep this close. The home team in this series is 4-1 straight up but just 2-3 against the spread.
