Thursday College Football Betting – Bearcats and Wolfpack on ESPN

The Bearcats bounced back off their opening loss against Fresno State with a dominant win last week against Indiana State. NC State comes into this game at 2-0 but they haven’t played anyone so it is hard to know if they are worth a wager as you bet on college football.

Meaningless Wins – The Bearcats beat Indiana State 40-7 last week and NC State beat Central Florida 28-21.  Who cares?  The results tell us nothing since Indiana State and Central Florida are rotten teams.  In Week 1, Cincinnati went to Fresno State and got pounded so who knows if they can go into NC State and win.  The Wolfpack beat Western Carolina in Week 1 and again, it tells us nothing.

First-Ever Meeting – This will be the first-ever matchup between Cincinnati and NC State. That doesn’t mean we don’t have some betting stats to consider as we bet on college football in this game.  The Bearcats are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 Thursday games. That is about the only positive trend that Cincinnati has.  The Bearcats are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 non-conference games. The Bearcats are 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games overall. Cincinnati has a new head coach this season and they are no longer a powerful team in the Big East.

Good NC State Trends – The Wolfpack have some good numbers coming into this game. The Wolfpack are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games in September. They are 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 home games. The one concern is that they are 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 vs. the Big East.  NC State is at home though and they have at least looked better so far this season than Cincinnati has.

Betting the Total – If you want to take a shot with the total at Sbgglobal on this ESPN game there are a few trends to look at. Four of the last five Cincinnati games overall have gone over in college football betting. 11 of the last 13 NC State games have gone over.  The Over is 18-7-1 in NC State’s last 26 home games.
