Betting on College Football: Alabama Crimson Tide Vs. Tennessee Volunteers

At the beginning of this week all eyes were on the status of Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.  While Tua is probable for Saturday his tender knee has Crimson Tide backers worried about his long term viability.  Especially for Saturday’s Betting on college football matchup at resurgent Tennessee.  The Volunteers are coming off a huge upset win at Auburn.  Extending that win is increased confidence and belief in new head coach Jeremy Pruitt.  So too is the feeling that Pruitt’s demanding ways are beginning to pay off.  For this purpose, Tennessee may get a peak from some bargain hunters.

Alabama Crimson Tide

Alabama enters this game 7-0 straight up and 4-3 vs. the odds.  Simultaneously the Tide has gone over the total in five of their seven games.  Bama covered a 39-10 home win over Mizzou last week.  Overall the Tide ranks first nationally for scoring offense and seventh for scoring defense.  Tua has been unreal in his greatness.  To show Tagovailoa has a 248 rating with 21 touchdowns and zero interceptions.  Najee Harris and Damien Harris help with over six yards per rush each.  And Jerry Jeudy is averaging 27 yards per catch on 26 receptions with 9 TD’s.

Tennessee Volunteers

By contrast Tennessee is 3-3 both straight up and with the line.  And then the Vols have also split their six games on totals.  Last week Tennessee scored a 30-24 win at Auburn that was no accident.  Likewise, they were clearly the better team.  Now there is a sense that the Vols have potential to make a bowl this year.  But a 97th in the nation ranked offense is cause for concern.

Stats to Consider

Alabama has seen their betting on college football value drop as a road chalk.  For example, the Tide has paid in just one of their last five in that situation.  And four of their last seven as road favorites have gone under the total.  However, Tennessee has gushed red ink as a home dog.  Specifically, the Volunteers have covered only five of their last 20 in that role.  Additionally, six of their last nine as home dogs have gone over the total.

Team vs. Team

Alabama has controlled the cashier’s cage in this offshore betting series with Tennessee.  For example, the Vols have covered just three of the last 14 meetings between these teams.  Five of the last six between Bama and Tennessee went over the total.  At Neyland Stadium the Crimson Tide has been especially reliable.  To show Bama has come away with the cash in seven of their last eight visits to Tennessee.  The last four games at Neyland in this series also went over the total.

Matchup to Watch

As mentioned earlier Alabama owns this Betting on college football series.  Despite Tua being less than 100% backup Jalen Hurts would start for most other teams.  To illuminate Alabama is insanely deep at every position.

Alabama vs. Tennessee Betting on College Football Picks

In sum it’s too early in Pruitt’s tenure to expect the Vols to threaten the vastly deeper Tide.
