Alamo Bowl Odds: Texas vs. Oregon

This Monday evening, December 30th at 6:45 pm ET we will have the opportunity to watch the Alamo Bowl which many say it’s the consolation bowl with the Texas LONGHORNS (8-4, 7-2 Big 12) playing the #10 Oregon DUCKS (10-2, 7-2 Pac-12) with the game being played at the Alamodome (65,000) in San Antonio, Texas with the game on ESPN TV and the weather not a factor.

According to one Sportbook the Texas Longhorns had the opportunity to win the Bing 12 Title but in their final week lost to Baylor which put them out of the BCS Bowls. Oregon was presented for the final BCS bowl but was passed over as Oklahoma was given the spot. Thus this bowl, some are calling the consolation bowl if you Bet on College football.

At SBG Global the Oregon Ducks are favored for the opening odds at -13 ½ with the total being 67 and the money line at -550 for the Ducks.  The Oregon Ducks come into this game as a team the fans love to watch as they are always explosive on offense, known as the spread offense,  as they average some 573 yards per game during this 2013 season and their QB Mariota has thrown for 30 TD’s and only intercepted three times this season.  RB Thomas can bust open the game any time rushing as he has rushed for 8 TD and some 581 yards on the ground. The Ducks started the season at 8-0 and then lost to Stanford and after that game the Ducks seemed to have problems with their motivation.  That was evident in the loss to Arizona which eliminated them from the Rose Bowl and Pac-12 Title game.

For the Texas Longhorns this certainly will be a game to remember the Alamo as this will be the last game for the longest tenured coach Mack Brown who will be recalled as the coach that brought Texas back into the national prominence in NCAA football.  This Texas team began 2013 expecting to vow for the Big 12 Title but then came a 1-2 start and their fan base started chanting “Fire Mack Brown” and that made many wonder how much longer the Coach would last.  Then things changed with a six game win streak and wound up playing Baylor for the conference title thanks to the Sooners but then stumbled and lost to the Baylor Bears.   Regardless, be assured that this game will be a game for the Longhorns fans to remember especially if the beat Oregon with Coach Brown in his last game.  Good luck to the Ducks and Longhorns at the ALAMO!
