2016 Liberty Bowl – Kansas State vs. Arkansas

Yes the 2015-16 NCAA Football Bowl Season is coming to an end, and we still have an exciting Bowl game for this Saturday the 2nd of January 2016 with the Autozone Liberty Bowl with the 6-6 Kansas State Wildcats (Big 12) playing the 7-5 Arkansas Razorbacks (SEC-West) with the game being played at the Liberty Bowl Memorial in Memphis, Tennessee with the kick-off scheduled for 3:25 PM ET and seen on ESPN TV.

For those the Bet on College football the Vegas odds has the Arkansas Razorbacks favored at -13 and with the Over/under at 55 ½ and -500 on the Money Line, while the Kansas State Wildcats are at +13 and +400 on the ML.

The Arkansas Razorback Head Coach B, Bielema is seeking a 2-0 record in Bowl games with a win here, as they come up against Kansas State Wildcats. Both of these teams struggled at the beginning of their 2015 season but developed comeback streaks to end the regular season on a high note, and get Bowl Invitations.

The fans of the 6-6 Kansas State Wildcats also started their season with 3 wins then ended the 2015 season with a 3 game streak of wins. In the center of those 2 streaks that had some 6 losses that nearly knocked them out of Bowl contention.

But now that there in a Bowl game the team will need a strong offensive performance or this could be their Coach Snyder’s last game with the Wildcats!

A win seems easier said than accomplished since the team seems to lack the necessary offensive punch to win games. During the season they generated some 342 yards in total each game, while their passing game leaves something to be desired, and it’s still not clear whether QB J. Hubener or QB K. Cook will be there starter for this Liberty Bowl game. But whoever starts will need to be successful against the Razorback pass defense that appears to be struggling as they have allowed some 285 passing yards in each game in 2015.

Chances are Snyder will go with Hubener, who’s made 11 starts and won five while passing for 1,837 yards and nine touchdowns with as many interceptions. Cook, however, played well in K-State’s 24-23 win over West Virginia in the regular season finale, when he filled in for the then hurt Hubener and passed for 121 yards and a touchdown and added one more rushing score.

Defensively the Wildcats have struggled all season since it has allowed some 443 yards in total each game and an average of 34 points for each game. For a win for the Wildcats they will need to post their best performance since the Razorbacks love to run the ball especially with their star RB A. Collins.

The fans of the 7-5 Arkansas Razorbacks similar to the Wildcats the team struggled all season starting with 1 win and 3 losses in their 1st 4 games, then they won 5 of the next 6 games closing out their season and earning a Bowl invite.

Arkansas comes to Memphis for this game as heavy favorites, which indicates they should win the game. Since Kansas State struggles on defense, and Arkansas with their strong offense could have a big game in this Liberty Bowl. Because the Razorbacks have RB A. Collins who this season and the previous 2 seasons he has managed to rush for 1,000 plus yards. He could have a big game here also since the Wildcats defense is allowing opponents some 160 yards rushing in each game.

Offensively the Arkansas will have QB B. Allen test the Wildcats passing defensive secondary as he has had a good year passing for some 29 touchdowns on 3,125 yards and with just 7 intercepts for the season.

The sports betting prediction for this Liberty Bowl game is that the Arkansas Razorbacks are too much for the struggling Kansas State Wildcats and they win the game covering the spread 38-21!
