Several Top College Basketball Betting Line Chalks at SEC Tournament

2019 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament

Certainly, a big topic of conversation this week for the SEC tournament will be regular season champion LSU.  While the Bayou Bengals won the league their coach Will Wade will not be with them.  FBI tapes with recordings of Wade discussing offers to players has put a cloud over the program.  Wade may end up having to please the fifth to stay out of jail.  However, this does open up college basketball betting line opportunities for other top SEC Teams.  The Tennessee Volunteers and Kentucky Wildcats immediately come to mind.  And don’t forget about Bruce Pearl’s Auburn Tigers.

Who is getting more attention?

Overall Tennessee and Kentucky garnered most of the attention in the SEC regular season.  Yet both teams were unable to close the deal when it mattered most.  The Volunteers and Wildcats bring the most talent to the college basketball betting line. Additionally, each team will be highly motivated after not capturing the regular season title that seemed to be in their hands.  Auburn brings an offense and energy that is perfectly suited for tournament play.  Of great concern will be LSU’s mindset after fluking into the regular season title as their coach was separated from them.

Kentucky

Tradition is the currency of Kentucky.  Few teams carry as much NCAA Basketball credibility as the Wildcats.  Yet for all the hype U of K has captured just one national championship in the John Calipari era.  When it comes to raw material talent nobody boasts higher and deeper quality than Kentucky.  Most important of all is well balanced team that plays a full court game.  As an example of their ability is forward PJ Washington.  This five-star recruit leads U of K with14.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

Tennessee

Along the same lines Tennessee has seen their program go through a tremendous renaissance under head coach Rick Barnes.  Indeed, Texas fired Barnes due to their belief that the program had turned stale.  But at Tennessee Barnes has shown everyone why he is an elite level coach.  Recruiting has been top shelf as have been the tactics.  Forward Grant Williams leads the Volunteers with 19.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.

LSU

Of major concern is the status of LSU.  The Bayou Bengals won the regular season title and were a cash cow with a mark of 19-11-1 against the spread.  Further, LSU is in good form with eight payouts in their last ten games.  But with Wade under house arrest and a potential death penalty facing the program the mindset of the Tigers must be questioned.

Matchup to Watch

On this occasion Kentucky and Tennessee appear to be on a collision course.  The Wildcats and Volunteers will have the college basketball betting line matchup motivational advantage. Supplementing that is the belief that both teams were actually the best in the conference.  LSU took the SEC by surprise and slipped through the back door.  However, that’s unlikely this weekend.
