Recap of No. 7 Arizona Wins Over Washington, 86-62

This past Friday the 13th of February 2015 a day for the superstitious as the No. 7 Arizona Wildcats 21-3 played the unranked Washington Huskies 14-10 with the game played at the Alaska Airlines Arena in Seattle, Washington with game seen on ESPN Watch at was at 9PM ET on the 13th of Feb.

The Arizona Wildcats in this game beat the Washington Huskies 86- 62 with the Wildcats Johnson scoring 20 points in the game, with 8 rebounds and 2 assists. The leader for the Huskies was Andrews with 18 points, with 11 rebounds and 4 assists in the game.

Arizona took the lead early in the game, as at the end of the 1st half the score was Arizona 43 and Washington 24 as the Wildcats were only 5 points short of doubling the Huskies score in that 1st half of the game. In the 2nd half the Wildcats duplicated their scoring of the 1st half scoring another 43 points, while the Huskies scored 38 points, but not enough to overcome their 1st half deficit, thus the Wildcats won the game 86-62 winning by 24 points, strangely that was the amount of points the Huskies scored in the 1st half of the game. The win was the 7th win the Arizona Wildcats had in their last eight games.

Last week the No.7 Arizona Wildcats were upset by state rival Arizona State so this game gave the team and coach an idea of how they handled last week’s loss, and then take off on a road trip to try and improve on their mistakes in last week’s loss.

After last week’s shocking loss, Arizona now 21-3 took advantage on some on a hot shooting team to take advantage and build a first half lead as the pulled away over the Huskies as they had 5 players with double figures lead by Johnson who was the leading scorer for the with 20 points in the game. The other players in double figures for the Wild cats were Hollis-Jefferson with 17 points, York with 13 points off the bench, Ashley with 11 points and McConnell with 10 points in the game, and he also had 10 assists which game him a double-double and his 1st of this 2014-15 season for the NCAA BB.

The Huskies of Washington who are 14—10 and 3-9 in the Pac 12, lost their 6th consecutive game of this season, which as it turns out is the longest streak of losses for their Coach Romar’s tenure with the Huskies. Their last win came against Colorado back on the 22 of January 2015. The offensive leaders for the Huskies were Andrews with 18 points, Kemp Jr. with 13 points, Goss with 7 points, Anderson with 8 points and 6 points for Dorsey which rounds out the scoring for the Huskies five starters in the game.

In this win the defense of the Wildcats turned out to be very impressive, as they used a five guard defense, and that made it very difficult for the Huskies to get open on the perimeters.
