Pittsburgh at West Virginia College Basketball Betting

College basketball betting has 6th-ranked West Virginia hosting 22nd-ranked Pittsburgh on Wednesday. The Panthers started great in the Big East with five straight wins but they have now lost three of their last four.  Turning things around at West Virginia won’t be easy in this NCAA basketball betting matchup.

College basketball betting has Pittsburgh tied for fourth in a very good Big East Conference.  The problem for Pittsburgh is that the schedule is not going to get any easier. They have three college basketball betting games in the next three weeks against teams ranked in the Top 10. It starts with West Virginia in NCAA basketball betting on Wednesday. The Mountaineers pay a visit to Pittsburgh next week and then the Panthers host Villanova in college basketball betting in less than three weeks.  Games against Seton Hall and Marquette are no gimmes either in NCAA basketball betting. “You have to stay positive,” Pitt junior Gilbert Brown said, “There is so much more of the season left. We have nine more [Big East games] left. We have to battle through this. We have to get a lot more wins. We have to think about what is in the long run for us.”

The Panthers are still in good shape to get into the NCAA Tournament but they want more than that.  To get back to their winning ways they are going to have to start scoring points. In the past four college basketball betting games the Panthers are averaging only 62.7 points per game while allowing 65.2 per contest. Leading scorer Ashton Gibbs is not playing well of late and that is part of the problem. “He’s just going to have to be patient and let things come to him and we’re going to have execute better to get him shots,” head coach Jamie Dixon said. “I think he’s taking pretty good shots. He needs to get to the free-throw line more. Those are things that get you out of slumps. It’s good to get those free throws and get a feel of the ball going through the basket.”

West Virginia is coming off a close win over Louisville on Saturday as they rallied from 12 points down. The Mountaineers have been no bargain at home as they are 2-5 against the college basketball betting odds.  The Panthers have been solid on the road, going 4-1 in NCAA basketball betting in their last five road games. In this series, the Panthers are 8-3 in college basketball betting in the last 11 meetings at West Virginia.
