Odds to Win 2025-2026 March Madness – Sweet 16 Approaches!

SBGGlobal.eu » Get NCAA Basketball Betting Scores and News » Odds to Win 2025-2026 March Madness – Sweet 16 Approaches!

The 2026 Men’s NCAA Basketball Tournament has reached a fever pitch. Now, the Sweet 16 March Madness betting field is set following a weekend of historic upsets and conference dominance. The biggest story of the tournament is the early exit of the defending champion Florida Gators. To illuminate, Florida fell to a resilient Iowa squad in the second round. This loss blew the South Region wide open and marked the first time a top overall seed failed to reach the regional semifinals in three years.

Meanwhile, the Big Ten is the clear sports betting powerhouse of this year’s bracket with five teams still in contention for the title. Programs like Michigan and Purdue have lived up to their high billing, while Nebraska made school history by advancing to this stage for the very first time. By contrast, the West Region is defined by Texas’s resilience, which remains the lowest seed left in the field after a gritty win over Gonzaga.

Looking ahead to the upcoming March Madness betting odds matchups, the East Region offers a heavyweight bout between UConn and Michigan State. To show, this game is widely considered a tactical masterclass between two of the most experienced coaches in the country. In turn, the Midwest features a clash of styles as the high-octane three-point shooting of Alabama meets a Michigan roster that boasts elite size and interior defense.

Specifically, defensive efficiency has been the deciding factor so far, especially for Houston, which has stifled opponents despite its own struggles with perimeter shooting.

Sweet 16 Matchups

In the West Region, top-seeded Arizona faces Arkansas on Thursday in San Jose after the Wildcats survived a second-half push from Utah State to reach their third consecutive Sweet 16. On the other hand, second-seeded Purdue will face the tournament’s lone double-digit seed, Texas, which advanced after a notable upset of Gonzaga. Purdue enters the matchup after a strong senior performance led them past Miami, while Texas continues a three-game winning streak that began in the First Four.

The South Region features a clash between second-seeded Houston and third-seeded Illinois on Thursday in Houston. Previously, Illinois advanced by winning its first two games by a combined fifty-six points and will look to maintain its explosive offensive pace against a stifling Houston defense. Also in the South, fourth-seeded Nebraska meets ninth-seeded Iowa after the Hawkeyes shocked the defending champion Florida Gators with a late three-pointer to secure their first Sweet 16 appearance since 1999.

Friday’s Midwest Region action in Chicago features top-seeded Michigan facing fourth-seeded Alabama. Alabama reached its fourth straight Sweet 16 by hitting nineteen three-pointers in a dominant win over Texas Tech. At the same time, Michigan advanced after a high-scoring second-round victory over Saint Louis. The other Midwest matchup pits second-seeded Iowa State against sixth-seeded Tennessee after the Volunteers upset third-seeded Virginia to advance.

In the East Region, top-seeded Duke Blue Devils takes on fifth-seeded St. John’s in Washington, D.C., on Friday. Following the Red Storm’s reaching the second weekend for the first time in twenty-seven years by defeating Kansas. The region’s final matchup is a heavyweight battle between second-seeded UConn and third-seeded Michigan State. UConn moved on after a double-digit win over UCLA. At the same time, Michigan State dominated North Dakota State earlier in the tournament to set up this meeting of historic programs.
