March Madness betting on the Mountain West Conference could be very competitive this week with four teams in the running to win the title.
BYU and New Mexico are going to get NCAA Tourney bids so this tourney is more important to San Diego State and UNLV who are on the bubble. The Rebels have the home court edge so that is something to keep in mind this week in March Madness lines for the Mountain West tourney.
March Madness betting may favor New Mexico in this tournament but the fans are going to be backing UNLV and BYU. The Rebels have the home court but the Cougars also have a large Las Vegas following. The Lobos are the top seed though and they have won 14 straight.
The Aztecs are the team that simply has to win at least one game to make the NCAA Tournament. They are mentioned in practically every sentence as a bubble team so they simply can’t afford a loss in their first game against Colorado State. They may also need to upset New Mexico in the quarterfinals and that won’t be easy.
The Rebels are likely to be favored in their first round matchup against Utah but don’t sell the Utes short in March Madness betting. They have already beaten the Rebels twice this season.
Mountain West March Madness betting actually begins on Wednesday when Air Force and Wyoming meet in the opening round. Neither team is going anywhere since they have to play New Mexico in the quarterfinals. The Lobos will meet the winner of the San Diego State-Colorado State game. The Aztecs should beat Colorado State and they are capable of upsetting New Mexico. BYU should roll over TCU in their quarterfinal matchup.
The Cougars crushed TCU in the regular season finale and should have little trouble in this game. The other quarterfinal between UNLV and Utah may be a lot more interesting. The winner of that game will get BYU and if UNLV wins against Utah they will also need a win against BYU to keep their NCAA Tourney hopes alive.
The top seed has only won this tournament twice in the last nine years so the Lobos are no lock to win it. BYU is very capable of winning in March Madness betting while San Diego State and UNLV are also capable of winning in Mountain West March Madness lines.
