March Madness Gambling Favors Kentucky in the East

March Madness betting favors top seed Kentucky in the East as they open up play on Thursday against 16th-seeded East Tennessee State. The Wildcats are favored in March Madness odds but this is a very tough region.  Here is a look at all of the matchups for the East Region of the 2010 NCAA Tournament.

The March Madness betting board shows the winner of Kentucky-East Tennessee State facing the winner of eighth-seeded Texas and ninth-seeded Wake Forest. Those games on Thursday will be played at New Orleans.  The other two games on Thursday from this region are in San Jose as sixth-seeded Marquette faces 11th seeded Washington and third-seeded New Mexico against 14th seeded Montana.  A Sweet Sixteen game between Kentucky and New Mexico would be fun to watch.

Friday’s games feature second-ranked West Virginia as they play fifteenth seed Morgan State. They will face the winner of the game between 7th seed Clemson and 10th seeded Missouri.  Those games will be played at Buffalo.

The other two games on Friday have fifth-seeded Temple playing 12th seeded Cornell and fourth-seeded Wisconsin vs. 13th seeded Wofford.  Those games will be played at Jacksonville.  West Virginia will be expected to have little trouble but Temple is dangerous.

Kentucky is the top seed in this region and the favorite to win in March Madness betting. It may not be easy though. There are a lot of talented teams in this region.  It is the second toughest region in this year’s tournament.  West Virginia easily could have been a top seed and the draw sets up well for West Virginia.  They should have little trouble reaching the Sweet Sixteen.

Kentucky may have a more difficult time as they have a dangerous second round game against either Texas or Wake Forest.  They may also have to get past either a tough Marquette team or a very talented New Mexico squad.  On paper it should be Kentucky vs. West Virginia in the Elite Eight but Kentucky has a very difficult road with a young basketball team.

A longshot to win this region in March Madness odds might be Temple. They easily could have been a third seed in the tournament.  They have a very strong basketball team that could be tough to handle.  Kentucky and West Virginia will get the attention though but there are no guarantees in the East.
