Kansas State Wildcats vs. Oklahoma Sooners

K-State Shoots for Vegas Lines NCAA Basketball Upset at OU

January 16th, 2019 NCAA Basketball, Offshore Betting

Account of rising from the dead for a stirring comeback win over West Virginia has the K-State Wildcats rejuvenated.  Last week’s 71-69 win was a school record comeback of 21 points.  Of great concern to gamblers is that K-State is not covering consistently with the Vegas lines NCAA basketball despite a winning record.  On the other hand, few teams on the college hardwood have been as profitable as the Oklahoma Sooners.  OU is the mirror opposite of last year’s team in that they now play strong defense.  More emphatically this is a more complete Sooners team compared to 2017-18.

Kansas State Wildcats

Kansas State has irritated gamblers with their mixed bag of results.  As an example, The Wildcats are 12-4 straight up but just 7-9 vs. the odds.  KSU has lost seven of their last 10 with Vegas lines NCAA basketball.  And seven of their last nine have gone under the total.   Of great concern is the one-dimensional style of head coach Bruce Webber’s team.  For example, the Wildcats rank 330th in the nation for scoring offense.  Yet K-State ranks fifth in the country for points allowed. Barry Brown Jr. leads with 15.2 points per game.

Oklahoma Sooners

Balanced against that is the tremendous betting value offered by Oklahoma so far this season.  OU has an offshore betting sportsbook record of 13-3 straight up, 12-2-2 with the odds, and 4-12 under the total.  Indeed, the Sooners have lost just one of their last 10 games on the board.  Last year Oklahoma was a one-man team with Trae Young and nothing else.  In contrast to 12 months ago OU now has a reliable defense and more balanced scoring.  In particular coach Lon Krueger has vastly improved the defensive metrics.  Christian James leads with 16.8 points per game.

Stats to Consider

Encompassing the value issue for Kansas State is their solid wagering value on the road.  The Wildcats have covered four of their last seven getting points on the road.  Four of their last six in that role have gone over the total.  Counter to that is Oklahoma’s total control of the cashier’s cage at Lloyd Noble Center.  The Sooners have covered six of their last seven on their home court.

Team vs. Team

Kansas State has struggled to get the money in their series with Oklahoma.  For example, the Wildcats have covered just one of the last four meetings.  Four of the last six in this series have gone over the total.  And at Lloyd Noble Center the Sooners have won and covered their last two vs. KSU.  Seven of the last nine between these teams at Norman have gone over the total.

Matchup to Watch

Oklahoma owns the Vegas lines NCAA basketball matchup advantage with their defense vs. K-State’s inept offense.  Additionally, the Sooners have been the far more reliable wagering value.  To be exact the Wildcats can’t suffocate their way to the pay window at OU.
