Gonzaga Could Get Home Court Edge in March Madness Odds

March Madness odds are going to have Gonzaga on the board again as the Zags are running away with the West Coast Conference again. What might be different this year in March Madness betting is a home court edge for the Zags.

March Madness odds have various sites around the country and one of those sites is Spokane, Washington.  There is a very good chance that Gonzaga will be playing the first two rounds of March Madness betting at the Spokane Arena.  The NCAA Tournament committee has given teams the opportunity to play close to home in recent years and Gonzaga could be headed for a huge home court edge this year in March Madness odds.

The NCAA Tournament committee seems to favor top seeds getting to play close to home in March Madness odds.  That means Gonzaga probably needs to be seeded as a #4 seed or better.  They are on pace to do just that in March Madness odds.  And it would not be unheard of for a team to play at home.  The Spokane Arena is just a mile and a half from the university so it would be a virtual home game for the Zags.  A few years ago in March Madness odds Pittsburgh got to play at Mellon Arena which is very close to their home while Villanova has played at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia a couple of times.  The home court edge would be very important for Gonzaga in March Madness betting. “We talked about it way back at the start a little bit,” Gonzaga coach Mark Few said. “Our foremost goal is just to win the league (regular season). Our second goal is just to get to the tournament. They kind of go hand in hand. Focusing in on seeding and all that stuff, you’re leaving it up to somebody else.”

Gonzaga was not expected to be so good this season in March Madness odds. Many thought it would be a rebuilding year but that has not been the case.  Now they can get a big home court edge in the first two rounds of March Madness betting. “I definitely think we’re aware of it, and obviously, we’d love to do it,” senior guard Matt Bouldin said. “We just figure if it’s meant to be … we’re trying to win every game we can. If we deserve it, we deserve it.”

Gonzaga has been impressive this season with wins over Wisconsin and Illinois in addition to wins over Saint Mary’s, Cincinnati, Memphis and Portland.
