Georgia Tech at Duke College Basketball Betting

December 1, 2010 NCAA Basketball

College basketball betting on Thursday features an ACC matchup between Top 25 teams as Duke hosts Georgia Tech.

This NCAA basketball betting game can be seen on ESPN 2. College basketball betting has seen Duke win eight of the last ten against Georgia Tech. The Blue Devils are 6-4 against the NCAA basketball betting odds in those games.  Georgia Tech did win at home back in early January though 71-67 over Duke.  That win broke a four-game winning streak for Duke in this series.  The bigger college basketball betting trend in this series has been the total. The last ten meetings between the two teams have all gone under the NCAA basketball betting total.

Duke is leading the ACC but they are not an elite team.  They were blown out by Georgetown on Saturday in college basketball betting.  “We have a limited team.” head coach Mike Krzyzewski said, “We have a good team, a very good team, but it’s limited.” Part of the problem for Duke is that they have almost no depth.  They have three of the ACC’s top four leaders in minutes played as college basketball betting stats indicate. Jon Scheyer leads the ACC with 36.2 minutes played, Kyle Singler is third at 34.9 and Nolan Smith is fourth at 34.6.  Duke is fine when those three stay out of foul trouble but when they get in foul trouble or when they get worn down the Blue Devils are in trouble.  Duke simply does not have the depth to shuffle players in an out.  Georgia Tech pressed Duke in the first meeting and should try to do it again. This game is at Duke though and it is tough to press Duke at home. Singler was just 2 for 13 in that college basketball betting loss.

Georgia Tech is tough to figure out in NCAA basketball betting. They have a lot of talent but they are inconsistent.  They have quality wins over Duke, North Carolina, Clemson and Wake Forest although the win over Carolina doesn’t look as good since the Tar Heels are simply not very good.  The Yellow Jackets have some serious talent with Gani Lawal and Derrick Favors.   For Georgia Tech to win the ACC they almost have to win this game.  "We have a great team," Lawal said to a local paper, "We’ll never have this same group of guys again. Zach and D’Andre obviously won’t be here again. They’re seniors. What I’m going to do, I’m not sure right now.”

Many are going to look at Duke in this college basketball betting matchup but Georgia Tech has already proven this season they can beat the Blue Devils.
