Michigan State Spartans vs. UCLA Bruins

College Basketball Betting Line: Michigan State Spartans vs. UCLA Bruins

November 19th, 2018 NCAA Basketball

While Steve Alford has led UCLA to three Sweet 16 appearances, last year gave back much good will.  Fashion the Bruins being bounced in the “First Four” of the 2018 NCAA tournament.  Alford has never been fully accepted by the faithful in Westwood.  Extending that are the impossible expectations of UCLA fans with the college basketball betting line.  Although it is true that this era is far more competitive Bruins fans won’t hear it.  Once upon a time John Wooden led the program to 10 national titles.  And every coach that followed has had to live in that shadow.

Michigan State Spartans

Following an opening night loss to Kansas, Michigan State has won their last two games.  Sparty is 2-1 straight up but 1-2 vs. the line with 2-1 mark over the total.  Last time out the Spartans beat Louisiana Monroe 80-59 as 25-point home overlays. Cassius Winston led with 23 points for MSU and is averaging 17 points per game.   Additionally, Xavier Tillman powered to 13 rebounds for Michigan State.  More emphatically the Spartans held Louisiana Monroe to just 30% from the floor.  Joshua Langford leads MSU with 17.3 points per game.  Correlate Sparty’s national rank of 11th.

UCLA Bruins

Undefeated UCLA is 3-0 straight up and 2-1 vs. the line with two games clearing the total.  So far, the Bruins have played lightweight competition and MSU will be a major step up in class.  At the same time UCLA is ranked 20th in the country and considered quite capable.  The Bruins are led by Moses Brown’s 19.7 points and 13.7 rebounds per game.  In the same way Kris Wilkes has been valuable with 19.3 points per outing.  Encompassing UCLA’s good look was a 95-58 win over St. Francis as 15-point chalks.  Brown had 23 points and 14 boards.

Stats to Consider

Michigan State has not been a good road value with the college basketball betting line.  In fact, the Spartans have paid in just four of their last 17 games away from home.  Eight of their last ten road matchups have gone under the total.  Along the same lines UCLA has not been profitable on the road either.  Consider that the Bruins have paid in just four of their last 10 away from home.  Seven of their last 10 road games have gone over the total.

Team vs. Team

Michigan State has dominated the cashier’s cage in their NCAA Basketball Series with UCLA.  To show, the Spartans have covered four consecutive games against the Bruins.  Just one of those games went over the total.

Matchup to Watch

Moses Brown is the matchup difference with the college basketball betting line here.  To be exact Brown is emerging as one of the most dominant players in all of college basketball.  In view of the results UCLA has also been the superior wagering value.  Concurrently the Bruins may soon have the higher national ranking.
