Butler vs. Georgetown NCAA Basketball Betting

December 1, 2010 NCAA Basketball

NCAA basketball betting on Tuesday features an ESPN televised matchup between two Top 25 teams as #23 Butler faces #16 Georgetown.

The game is part of the Jimmy V. Classic in New York.  Georgetown is favored in college basketball betting but Butler will get some attention considering their reputation.

NCAA basketball betting has seen Georgetown start the season 6-0 straight up while Butler has started 6-2.  Georgetown has had a cupcake schedule so it is hard to know how good they really are in NCAA basketball betting. It should be a good test for both teams. History may not be on the side of Butler though in NCAA basketball betting as they are 1-7 in their last eight games against Top 25 opponents.  They are coming off nice wins last week against Ball State and Valparaiso though. They won by 19 against Ball State and by 17 over Valpo.

Butler has not played that well defensively so far this season and it is unclear whether or not they will be tested by Georgetown’s offense. What is clear is that Georgetown’s defense will test Butler’s offense. Butler has been erratic this season and they will need Gordon Heyward to play well if they are to have a chance to win this game against Georgetown.

Georgetown has yet to play any team ranked in the Top 25 so now the real games begin.  The team sounds ready to be tested though. "I’m looking forward to it, and I think my teammates are, too," sophomore center Greg Monroe said, "I think my teammates and I are ready for the limelight."

Butler has been very good in non-conference games as they are 38-17-1 in college basketball betting in their last 56 non-conference games.  Butler has struggled in a couple of areas though in NCAA basketball betting. They are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 NCAA basketball betting games overall. The Bulldogs are 1-6 in college basketball betting in their last 7 neutral site games.

The Hoyas are 5-1-1 vs. the NCAA basketball betting odds in their last 7 non-conference games. Georgetown also has weak NCAA basketball betting numbers just like Butler does.  The Hoyas are 5-16-1 ATS in their last 22 games overall in NCAA basketball betting. The Hoyas are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 neutral site NCAA basketball betting games.

Nine of the last eleven Butler neutral site games have gone over the NCAA basketball betting total.  17 of their last 25 non-conference games have gone over in college basketball betting.
