Butler is Always a Factor in March Madness Odds

March Madness odds seem to have the Butler Bulldogs on the board every single year. In the past 13 years, Butler has been in the NCAA Tournament a total of eight times.  The bulldogs is so well respected in March Madness betting that they are no longer considered a surprise team.

March Madness odds have seen the Bulldogs go from a mid-major team to a team considered a national power. The Bulldogs are ranked in the Top 25 on a regular basis and they get a lot of attention in March Madness betting.  Butler has owned the Horizon League in recent seasons and the other coaches respect what the Bulldogs have done. “They (the players) believe in the system, in the coaching and the tradition, which is, bar none, the best in our league.” a Horizon League coach said.

Butler is one of those teams that has even survived in March Madness odds even though they had a coaching change.  Todd Lickliter got the program on the map and Brad Stevens has continued the tradition.  Stevens was 56-10 in his first two seasons with Butler and the Bulldogs were on the March Madness odds board in both seasons. They are going to be there again this year as well in March Madness betting. Butler also has a very good coaching staff beyond Stevens.  Matthew Graves is an assistant coach and he is considered already as a future head coach in waiting.

It has been another solid season for the Bulldogs as they head into March Madness odds.  The team was unbeaten in the Horizon League and they had a record of 24-4. Gordon Hayward and Mack Shelvin are two of the players that have had good seasons.  Hayward is averaging 16 points per game along with a team leading 8.3 rebounds per contest. Shelvin is not far behind averaging 13.7 points per game.  Four players average at least 10 points per game which means Butler is well prepared for the NCAA Tournament.

Butler gets so much respect now that they are actually overvalued in March Madness odds.  The Bulldogs may have a straight up record of 24-4 but they are a poor 11-17 against the spread.  The Bulldogs are not the sleeper team in March Madness odds that they used to be.  Now Butler is expected to be a factor every year in March Madness betting.
