At the onset, it’s been a promising start for the Arkansas Razorbacks in 2022-23. Arkansas has emerged as a popular pick on the College Basketball odds future market and has provided a solid profit margin to gamblers. The success of the Razorbacks stems back from their balance. Arkansas plays a full court game. So far, the Hogs’ only weakness has been their 3-point shooting. Eric Musselman was charged with building a serious college basketball program and has delivered the goods. Certainly, the Razorbacks are in the hunt for an SEC championship.

Since arriving in Fayetteville, Musselman has been one of the most aggressive recruiters in the country, both in the high school ranks and in the transfer portal. Every offseason, it seems as though the Razorbacks are in the mix for every major transfer available. And over his three seasons, Musselman has welcomed 12 transfers to the program, including five this season.

If Arkansas wants to repeat the past two years’ performance or go even further, it will be done differently this year. The NCAABB betting roster has been flipped. Cause by junior guard Davonte Davis is the only key player returning. NBA defections and the transfer portal hit the program hard. As a result of so many new faces on the roster, chemistry will be as important as the talent being brought in.
This season should be Eric Musselman’s first test as Arkansas’ head coach. But he comes loaded for the fight with a full arsenal that includes transfers and the second-ranked class in the country.
With so many new additions to the roster, it can be hard to parse out how the minutes will be distributed. Although the faces are unknown, there is no talent shortage in Fayetteville. Davis will likely handle the shooting guard spot in the backcourt after putting up eight points per game in his first two seasons with the Razorbacks.
But, with the long ball not much of a factor in Davis’ game, he will have to rebound a bit this season as both his field goal and free throw percentages took a dip in his second season.
It is true the faces are new, but the expectations should be the same, given the talent. Gamblers expect the Razorbacks to contend for an SEC title and, come March be a top-4 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
