2022 Big East Conference Tournament Betting Odds & Preview

Upstart Providence and Established Villanova Lead Big East Tourney

On the whole, the Providence Friars are not a public brand with the College Basketball odds. And that is what makes them so appealing to the Wise Guys. Providence won the Big East Conference regular-season title over the name-brand Villanova Wildcats. And the masses paid the price for backing Nova this season. Oddsmakers are fully aware of the public appeal of the Wildcats. Further, they realize that the masses ignore a team like Providence. Sharps love the math of a quality team at a discount price. Despite their regular-season championship, the Friars are tournament underdogs.

Villanova Wildcats 23-7 SU, 15-14-1 ATS, 16-14 OU

Of major concern is that Villanova has covered only three of its last ten sports betting matchups. Seven of the Wildcats’ most recent nine games went over the total. Naturally, any team coached by Jay Wright is a threat to tournament success. But the public love of Villanova offsets any potential betting value that Wright would bring. Villanova rates respect for a defense that ranks 36th out of 350 teams in the nation for points allowed. First in the country for free-throw shooting is another important trait.

Guard Collin Gillespie leads Nova with 16.3 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. And then guard Justin Moore adds 15.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per contest.

Connecticut Huskies 22-8 SU, 12-17-1 ATS, 18-12 OU

UConn was one of college basketball’s great success stories this season. However, the Huskies are a public brand, though not quite as big as a few years ago. UConn generated too much public attention down the stretch. To show, the Huskies covered only one of their most recent eight games. Five of their last seven tilts went under the total. UConn shows good balance with marks of 55th for scoring offense and 73rd for points allowed.

Guard RJ Cole leads UConn with 15.8 points per game. Forward Adama Sanogo adds 15.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest. At the same time, guard Tyrese Martin brings 13.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.

Providence Friars 24-4 SU, 17-11 ATS, 15-13 OU

Late on, Providence has covered five of its most recent eight games. The Friars are 5-1 over the total in their last six outings. Providence is a team that is greater than the total sum of its parts. To illuminate, the Friars rank 140th for scoring offense and 100th for points allowed.

Providence has five players averaging ten or more points per game. Namely, center Nate Watson leads with 13.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest.

Creighton Bluejays 20-10 SU, 16-14 ATS, 10-19 OU

Of major concern is that Creighton ranks 233rd in the nation for scoring offense. Also, the Bluejays rank 309th with the College basketball lines for 3-point shooting and 23rd for defensive rebounding. However, the Bluejays boast a deep lineup and have ample secondary scoring. Forward Ryan Hawkins leads Creighton with 14.3 points and 7.7 rebounds per contest.
