Utah Jazz at Detroit Basketball Betting on Wednesday, March 10

November 30, 2010 NBA Basketball

Basketball betting on Wednesday has the Utah Jazz traveling to Detroit to face the Pistons in a game that can be seen on NBA-TV.

The Jazz have owned the Pistons in this series but the NBA betting situation is a tough one for Utah since they played last night at Chicago.

Basketball betting has seen the Jazz win 9 of the last 10 against the Pistons and they are 8-2 against the spread.  Utah beat Detroit 100-97 in overtime back in November in Utah although it was a rare instance when they did not cover the pointspread.  Seven of the last eight in this series have gone over the NBA betting total. The Pistons have lost nine straight games to the Jazz including four straight at The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Utah has been a very good team this season at home and on the road vs. the basketball betting odds.  In past seasons the Jazz struggled on the road but this year they have been solid and have a winning record.  The Jazz are 5th in the league on offense and their defense is not bad at 12th in the league. Utah has a balanced offense led by Carlos Boozer and Deron Williams. Utah has also been a team that goes over the total both at home and on the road. That makes some sense considering the Jazz are a high scoring team this season.

Detroit is almost the opposite of Utah. They have a losing record both straight up and against the spread. They are not good at home or on the road.  Detroit is 14-17-1 against the basketball betting line at home this season.  Detroit is very poor on offense as they are next to last in the league. Their defense is just average and doesn’t make up for their lack of scoring. The Pistons finally broke a long losing streak with a win against Houston on Sunday.   Leading scorer Rodney Stuckey could be questionable in this game and they may affect the line.  Utah is going to be favored regardless, but they might be favored by another point or more if Stuckey does not play.

The Jazz are likely to be the selection in this game on Wednesday.  Utah is one of the better teams in the Western Conference while Detroit is one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference.
