Thunder favored vs. Blazers in NBA Betting

November 30, 2010 NBA Basketball

NBA betting favors the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday as they host the Portland Trail Blazer.

The Thunder have been one of the most exciting teams to follow this season and they are going to make the playoffs.  The Blazers have won six of the last ten against the Thunder although the teams have split, going 5-5 vs. the basketball betting line.

NBA betting really points to the Thunder in this game. This year they are the better team in this matchup against Portland. The Blazers also are in the second half of a back-to-back as they played last night in New Orleans.  The Blazers and Thunder have split their two meetings this season with the road team winning each time.  Portland won 83-74 at Oklahoma City back in November while the Thunder routed the Blazers 89-77 in Portland last month. The games between these teams have been very low scoring. In fact, nine of the last ten games between the teams have gone under the total.

There is one positive for Portland in this game and that is their road record vs. the basketball betting odds. The Blazers have been better on the road vs. the spread than at home.  Portland’s defense is 5th best in the league but their offense can struggle as it is only 22nd in the league.  Brandon Roy leads the team in scoring and he will need to have a big game for the Blazers to have a chance on Sunday.

Oklahoma City is having an excellent season in NBA betting.  They are going to make the playoffs and they are not just sneaking in. They could end up with a nice seed depending upon how the last few games of the season go.  They don’t want to give the Blazers any hope of catching them so this is a key game for Oklahoma City.  Kevin Durant is also looking at the last few games of the regular season as very important since the can win the league’s scoring title. He is right with LeBron James for the scoring lead and Durant may have the edge since Oklahoma City will be playing meaningful games while the Cavs really have things wrapped up in the East.  The Thunder are 10th in the league on defense and 15th on offense.  This game against Portland could be low scoring but with Durant scoring points at will it is a little risky to take Thunder games under the NBA betting total.
