San Antonio Spurs upset Chicago Bulls 116-105

This past Sunday the San Antonio Spurs 39-23 (4th SW Div.) played the Chicago Bulls 39-25 (2nd Central Div.) in the 2nd game of a 2 game series in which the 1st game was played on the 22nd of Jan. 2015 as the Bulls beat the Spurs in Chicago 104-81. This second game was played at San Antonio, on the 8th of March 2015 and played at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas and the game tipped-off at 1 PM ET and seen on ABC TV with 18,851 in attendance.

The scoring in this game in the first half of the game was led by the Spurs of San Antonio as in the first half they outscored the Bulls of Chicago 25-19 and the Bulls end the 1st quarter with a 6 point deficit. In the 2nd quarter of the 1st half again the Spurs outscored the Bulls 32-20 and the game went to half-time with Spurs 57 and the visiting Bulls 39, thus the Bulls end the 1st half of the game with an 18 point deficit. In the 3rd quarter of the game the Bulls managed to recoup and outscore the Spurs 38 to 30 so the 3rd quarter ended with the Spurs 87 and the Bulls 77 so Chicago ended this 3rd quarter now with a 10 point deficit. In the 4th and final quarter of the game the Spurs outscored the Bulls by 1 point 29-28, and that was not good enough for the Bulls to eliminate their deficit, and therefore they lost this game Spurs of San Antonio 116 and Bulls of Chicago 105.

The 5 leading scorers and performances in this game for the Bulls came from forward-Gasol-23 points 15 rebounds 2 blocks, guard-Brooks-22 points 2 rebounds 3 assists, forward-Mirotic-19 points 3 rebounds 1 assist 1 steal 1 block, forward-Dunleavy-12 points 1 rebound 1 assist and center-Muhammed-8 points 2 rebounds 1 assists and 1 steal.

On non-scoring statistics the Bulls made 44 total rebounds (7 offensive and 37 defensive), while the Spurs made 35 total rebounds (8 offensives and 27 defensive). On assist the Bulls had 20 and the Spurs had 14 assists. For blocked shots the Bulls made 6 while the Spurs made 4 blocked shots. On steals the Bulls had 6 and the Spurs had 15 steals. Then on turnovers the Bulls committed 22 turnovers and the Spurs only 7. In the game the Bulls committed 24 fouls while the Spurs committed 22 fouls in this game.

After reviewing the statistics, especially for turnovers, which in this game appeared to be somewhat costly for the Bulls as the Spurs scored some 15 points that were a direct result of the Bulls turnovers. That coupled with star guard Parkers 32 points that helped the Spurs run away for the Bulls for their 5 consecutive victories.
