Golden State’s impressive game one win reminded everyone of their championship pedigree.  And why they are a favorite with the NBA Finals Betting Odds.  Houston is already behind the eight ball after just one game.  And the opener of this series was a stark reality check.  The Warriors are deeper than the Rockets.  And compensating for that is the riddle that Houston must solve.  Problem is the equation might be unsolvable.  Just how do you beat a team with two number one superstars?  Especially when you only have one yourself?  That is Mike D’Antoni’s dilemma.

Series so Far

Golden State scored a 119-106 win and payout in game one.  Kevin Durant lit it up with 38 points to lead the Warriors.  Durant fully demonstrated Golden State’s advantage with the NBA Finals Betting Odds.  Klay Thompson added 28 points.  Stephen Curry added 18 points with eight assists.  James Harden scored 41 points in the losing effort.  And demonstrated the Rockets disadvantage.  He is their only marquee man.  Seems as a result the Rockets may be chasing all series.  If they lose game two they may be as good as dead.  Because games three and four are at Golden State

Klay Thompson

Facing elimination at home the Rockets should be primed.  It simply may not matter.  A big reason why is the forgotten man on Golden State.  Klay Thompson would be a star on any other team.  For the Warriors he is the third man.  A role player on a team of two superstars.  Yet he is quietly and consistently demonstrating his own value.  Thompson has averaged 21 points or better four consecutive seasons.  In the 2016 Playoffs he was at 24 points per game.  He is a four-time NBA All Star.  And yet few fans realize that.

Golden State

Golden State had the second-best record in the West to Houston.  Yet much of that was due to Stephen Curry missing the final stages of the regular season.  Now that the Warriors are complete again they look unstoppable.  James Harden led the NBA in scoring for the Rockets.  Houston would not be in the conference finals without him.  But the Warriors are showing the value of their superior depth. Game one demonstrated the quandary.  Curry was held in check. So Durant and Thompson compensated.  It’s like picking your poison.

Team vs. Team

Houston has covered just five of their last 17 games against the Warriors.  Eight of the last 11 in this sportsbook online series went under.  Toyota Center has seen the Rockets cover just two of their last six against Golden State.  Six of the last ten between these teams at Houston went under.

Matchup to Watch

No matter how hard Houston tries they are not Golden State’s match.  The Warriors are NBA Finals Betting Odds chalks for a reason.  They are LOADED!  Depth is their matchup advantage.
