Detroit had reserve guard Dinwiddie who on Thursday was preparing to play again in the D-league his fate changed, as the Pistons making some trades wound up short at the guard position, thus the rookie Dinwiddie was put into the lineup alongside veteran guard Rose, and he actually outplayed Rose in this victory over the Bulls with his 12 points and some 9 assists, while veteran Rose only managed 8 points and 2 assists.

In this game the Pistons only had 10 players who were on the lineup for the game, as the traded players who came to Detroit in the trade did not get clearance to play in this game.

In the 4th quarter of this game the Bulls appeared to take advantage of the Piston shortage with bench players and score 1st in the 4th with 6 points to decrease their deficit to 77-74, but that change quickly as the Piston’s coach Van Gundy went back on the floor with his patched up lineup and Detroit and their defense was able to maintain their lead and win the game, mostly from the foul line.
