Phoenix Suns at Portland Basketball Betting

November 30, 2010 NBA Basketball

Basketball betting on Thursday has a TNT doubleheader with the late game in Portland as the Trail Blazers host the Phoenix Suns.

Phoenix has won 11 of the last 13 meetings against the Blazers, but this game is in Portland so it should be a good one in NBA betting.

Basketball betting saw the Suns win 11 straight in this series until Portland won last December. The Suns have swept the season series three times since 2004-05 but last year the teams split their four basketball betting meetings. Last season the home team won all four games. Portland scored 110.3 points per basketball betting contest while allowing 109.3 points. Phoenix shot 53.5% from the floor in the four games last season while Portland shot 49%.

Last season the Blazers swept the Suns in Portland for the first time since 1998-99. In the wins, Portland posted two of its three highest scoring outputs of the NBA betting season, 124 points and 129 points. The winning team has scored 100-plus points in 18 of the last 19 games in the basketball betting series.

Even with Portland’s success last season, the Suns have still won 8 of the last 10 in the series and they are 6-4 against the basketball betting odds in those games. You might think the games would normally go over in basketball betting but that is not always the case. The two games in Portland did go way over last year in NBA betting but overall the over/unders are just 5-5 in the last ten games between the two teams.

Phoenix has been solid on the road this season in basketball betting going 9-7 against the pointspread. The Suns are the highest scoring team in the NBA this season, averaging more than 108 points in basketball betting. Their defense is weak though but so far it hasn’t prevented them from having a strong basketball betting season.

Portland is above .500 this season but this is not the same Trail Blazers team from last year. The Blazers are struggling at home and overall in basketball betting they don’t even look like a playoff team. Injuries have hurt them though but that is only part of the problem. The chemistry this season seems off for Portland and the Blazers are no longer a sure thing in NBA betting at home. They are solid on defense as the are 3rd in the league but on offense they have struggled, ranking 24th in the NBA.
