Phoenix Suns at Los Angeles Basketball Betting

November 30, 2010 NBA Basketball

Basketball betting on Thursday includes a great matchup in Los Angeles as the Lakers host the Phoenix Suns.

Both teams are off to excellent starts this season so NBA betting action should be high on this TNT televised game.  Here is a look at what should be a great basketball betting matchup on Thursday.

Basketball betting odds favor the Lakers at home in this matchup. The situation also favors the Lakers as Phoenix is playing the second of a back-to-back tonight against Los Angeles. The Suns were home last night in basketball betting against New Orleans while the Lakers are rested.

The Lakers have won each of their last two season series with the Suns by a 3-1 margin. This will be the 210th meeting between the two teams with the Lakers leading the all-time series 122-87. The Lakers are 14-6 against the Suns all-time at Staples Center but they are just 5-5 in their last 10 regular season home games against Phoenix. In 45 career games against the Suns including 38 starts, Kobe Bryant is averaging 25.6 points per game.

The Suns have lost six of the last ten against the Lakers overall and they are just 4-6 against the NBA betting odds in those games. The teams met four times last season in basketball betting and the Lakers won three of the four. They were just 2-2 against the basketball betting pointspread though.  The Lakers were 1-1 in NBA betting at home against Phoenix. They won 132-106 and 115-110. That latter victory was not enough to cover the double-digit basketball betting number.  Both of those games went over the basketball betting total. Four of the last five at Los Angeles between the two teams have gone over in NBA betting. That could easily happen again on Thursday since the Suns have been leading the league in scoring while the Lakers are not far behind.

Steve Nash and Jason Richardson have been scoring a ton of points lately so this basketball betting game should be interesting. The Lakers are winning games but not covering the basketball betting odds very often. It doesn’t help the Lakers that they have been missing Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum.  Both players are questionable for this game on Thursday. The Lakers are just 2-5 this season against the basketball betting pointspread even though they are 6-1 straight up.
