Phoenix Suns at Atlanta Basketball Betting

November 30, 2010 NBA Basketball

Basketball betting is highlighted by an ESPN televised game on Friday as the Atlanta Hawks host the Phoenix Suns.

The Hawks are favored at home in this NBA betting contest.  It is the second game of a four-game road trip for the Suns.

Basketball betting may favor the Hawks but the Suns have actually won eight of the last ten games against Atlanta.  Normally the Suns have been favored in this basketball betting series. That is not the case in this NBA betting contest since Atlanta is considered the better team.  In the standings these teams are separated by just a game or so but the Hawks are given more of a chance to win in basketball betting than the Suns. That could be because the Hawks are younger and it also might be that the Suns are in the Western Conference and have to deal with the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Suns and Hawks last met about a year ago in Atlanta and Phoenix won by a score of 104-99 in basketball betting. The Suns also won at home last year 107-102.  Both of those games went under the basketball betting total.

It is all about offense for Phoenix this season in basketball betting. The Suns are first in the NBA in scoring and next to last in defense as basketball betting stats have it. That type of game works okay in the regular season in basketball betting but it fails in the playoffs. The Suns are just about .500 this season on the road in NBA betting. They are led by Steve Nash and Amare Stoudemire.  The problem Phoenix has in NBA betting is that there really isn’t a lot behind those two although Jason Richardson can come up with big games from time to time.

Atlanta has been good this season in basketball betting at home and on the road. The Hawks also have a good offense as they are 6th in the league as basketball betting statistics indicate.  Basketball betting has the Hawks playing some defense though as they are 14th in the league. Joe Johnson usually leads them in scoring and he gets a lot of help from a balanced attack that includes Josh Smith, Al Horford, Jamal Crawford and Mike Bibby.  Atlanta has proven they are a team to be reckoned with in the Eastern Conference this basketball betting season.
