Wizards vs. Celtics NBA Betting on Sunday, March 7

November 30, 2010 NBA Basketball

NBA betting favors Boston as they host the Washington Wizards on Sunday in an ESPN televised game.

The Celtics are considered the far superior team to Washington but they are just 5-5 against the basketball betting odds in the last ten games against the Wizards.  Here is a look at this Sunday televised contest between the Wizards and Celtics.

NBA betting has seen Boston win six of the last ten against Washington but they don’t always cover the spread. The teams have met twice this season and the Celtics have won both straight up, yet they are 1-1 against the NBA betting odds. The Celtics won 99-89 at Washington last month and covered the spread and they won 104-102 at Washington in December but didn’t cover the number.   The Celtics are 3-2 both straight up and against the NBA betting odds in their last five home games against Washington.  Five of the last six in this series have gone over the total.

Rajon Rondo leads the Celtics in scoring at 19 points per game against the Wizards this season.  He is also averaging 11.5 assists per game.  Andray Blatche is averaging 13 points per game against Boston this season.

There is not much to like about Washington but at least on the road they have been competitive vs. the NBA betting line.  The Wizards are 12-14-2 against the spread on the road this season.  Washington is below average on offense and on defense and is obviously building for the future since they traded away their two best players, Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler.

Boston is a very good team straight up but they are not a good team against the NBA betting odds, especially at home.  In fact, the Celtics are so bad at home vs. the number they are almost an automatic go-against.  The Celtics are 7-20-1 vs. the basketball betting line in home games.   They did cover earlier this week at home against Charlotte so perhaps they can turn things around in their remaining home games this season.  It is hard to believe they have been so bad at home vs. the NBA betting odds.   Boston has the top-ranked defense in the league as basketball betting stats show and their offense is still good enough to put points on the board.  Too often they are simply overvalued at home vs. the basketball betting line.
