New York Knicks at Minnesota

November 30, 2010 NBA Basketball

NBA betting on Sunday includes a matchup in Minnesota as the Timberwolves host the New York Knicks.

Minnesota has won and covered the basketball betting odds in six of the last ten games against New York although the Knicks won big just a few days ago against the T’Wolves.  Here is a look at this game on Sunday and some of the numbers to keep in mind with New York and Minnesota.

NBA betting had the Knicks routing Minnesota 132-105 on Tuesday.  In fact, the Knicks have won the last two against Minnesota going back to last season and covered the basketball betting line both times.  Before that, the Timberwolves had covered the previous five games in the NBA betting series.  Five of the last seven between the two teams have gone over the NBA betting total.

The Knicks had to play yesterday at Washington so that could be a factor in this NBA betting matchup.  The Knicks have been just under the .500 mark in NBA betting on the road this season.  New York can score, as they are 12th in the league but their defense is not very good at 23rd in the NBA.  David Lee is having a very good season for New York as he leads them in scoring at just over 19 points per game. The Knicks have actually been a team that goes under more often than over and that might be a surprise to many since New York is thought of as an offensive team. The basketball betting numbers definitely points to the under though, especially when the Knicks are on the road.

Minnesota is right around the .500 mark at home in NBA betting. The Timberwolves don’t win very often but they can cover the pointspread. They 25th in the league on offense and 28th on defense so there is not much to like about those stats. Minnesota is almost always an underdog though and that is why they can be competitive in basketball betting.  It is a very young Minnesota team so they could improve with rookies Jonny Flynn and Kevin Love.  Al Jefferson is the veteran presence and he leads the team in scoring.  Minnesota has been a team that goes under the total at home and over the total on the road so that should point to a low scoring game on Sunday between these two teams.
