NBA Games Betting Odds: Warriors Look to Take 2-0 Lead on Pelicans

October 30th, 2018 NBA Basketball, Sportsbook

Stephen Curry’s bad knee was considered to be the biggest threat to Golden State’s playoff prospects.  Yet the Warriors have thrived with the NBA games betting odds.  Despite Curry’s absence the defending NBA champs still have top shelf assets.  Kevin Durant was main man at Oklahoma City before joining up with Golden State.  So, the pressure that comes with being top player doesn’t faze him at all.  Durant has proven to be the salvation of the Warriors playoff hopes.  And Curry’s status has improved to day-to-day.  All of a sudden there is a lot less fog for the Bay Area’s basketball team.

Game 1 Recap

Golden State scored a 123-101 payout over New Orleans in game one of their best of seven series.  After game two at Golden State the series heads to New Orleans.  The third and fourth games take place there.  If necessary game five is on the Warriors home floor.  A sixth game would be at New Orleans.  And Golden State would host a seventh game.  Klay Thompson of the Warriors led game one with 27 points.  Kevin Durant added 26 more as well as 13 rebounds.  Golden State center Draymond Green had 14 rebounds and 11 assists.

So far in post season the Warriors have covered four out of six games.  Just two of those games went under the NBA games betting total.  Durant has been outstanding with 28 points and nine rebounds per game.  Thompson has averaged 23 points per outing in post season.  The tandem of Durant and Thompson has carried Golden State.  Curry’s return is mandatory to ensure a legitimate shot at the Finals.  Steve Kerr has perhaps done his best job in four years at Golden State.  He has maintained team confidence and production without Curry.  The expensive acquisition of Durant is vindicated.

New Orleans

New Orleans did not garner much online sportsbook attention during the regular season.  Perhaps that’s why they were among the most profitable teams this year.  A first round sweep of Portland shocked many fans.  But a deeper look reveals how strong Anthony Davis can make a team.  Davis is averaging 31 points per game in the playoffs.  He led the Pelicans in the regular season with 28 points per tilt.  Problematic is an injury to center DeMarcus Cousins.  He is out for the season due to an injured Achilles.  His 25 points and 13 rebounds per game cannot be replaced.

Team vs. Team

Golden State has covered three of their last four against the Pelicans.  Nine of the last 11 in this series went over the number.  At Oracle Arena the Warriors have paid in five of their last seven vs. New Orleans.  Five of the last six between these teams at Golden State went over the total.

Matchup to Watch

Both teams are missing top players.  Golden State simply has better players remaining.  Depth is their NBA games betting odds matchup edge.
