Here we go again with the Dallas Mavericks in NBA betting online. They are just good enough to be considered title contenders in NBA betting but we all know it won’t happen. The Mavericks will win a lot of games, fail to cover the spread more often than not and go out early in the playoffs. It happens every year.

Why will this year be any different in NBA betting? Owner Mark Cuban says his team has all the pieces to win a title but I am not convinced. Cuban always runs his mouth about how great his team is and then they lost in the playoffs.
Dallas Big Men – The Mavericks re-signed Brendan Haywood, acquired Tyson Chandler and took shots on Alexis Ajinca, Ian Mahinmi and Dominque Jones.
Starting Lineup – It is hard to argue with the starting lineup that Dallas puts on the floor every night. They have Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd, Caron Butler and Shawn Marion. They also have NBA Sixth Man of the Year award winner Jason Terry. With all of this talent you would expect the Mavericks to win and they do but in the playoffs they choke. It won’t be any different this season. Nowitzki doesn’t win in the playoffs, Kidd is old and slow and Butler and Marion don’t want the spotlight in big games.
Mavericks are Getting Old – Dallas is getting old. Cuban may not want to admit as much but Nowitzki is getting older and Kidd is already too old to play at an All-Star level. Nowitzki is still very good but he is starting to go towards the downside of his career.
Prediction – The Mavericks will win their 50 or so games again this season and be in the mix for the third or fourth seed in the West. So what. They do that every season and in the playoffs they bow out. That will be the case again in 2010-2011. You can count on Dallas being overvalued at home in NBA betting online and a team that continually frustrates gamblers.
