NBA Betting – 2010-2011 Los Angeles Lakers Preview

November 30, 2010 NBA Basketball

The Los Angeles Lakers have won the NBA title the past two season but they are not the favorites in NBA betting to make it three in a row.

The Miami Heat added LeBron James and Chris Bosh to go along with Dwyane Wade and the Heat are the favorites to win the title with the Lakers the second choice.  The Lakers will still be a popular NBA bet this season though and they will win a lot of games.

Odds to Win the NBA Title at Sbgglobal +250
The Lakers are going for a three-peat and they should have a chance to win another title.  They have the best clutch player in the game in Kobe Bryant, the best coach in NBA history in Phil Jackson and a talented roster.

Season Win Total – 56.5
This total is right about where the Lakers were last season so it is not a surprise.  Los Angeles won 57 games last year so you can predict they will be right around that number again this season.

Last Year’s Record – 57-25 SU, 33-46-3 ATS
Although the Lakers won a lot of games straight up, they were not a good team to take when making an NBA bet against the pointspread.  The Lakers are almost always overvalued and they rarely finish the seasons with a winning record against the spread.

Projected Starting Lineup
Guard – Kobe Bryant
Guard – Derek Fisher
Center – Pau Gasol
Forward – Lamar Odom
Forward – Ron Artest

Phil Jackson has said this will be his last year in coaching and he could go out on top.  The Lakers look just as good as they did last year although injuries are always a concern. The Lakers made some very good off-season moves as they added Steve Blake and Matt Barnes.  Blake can come off the bench and provide scoring while Barnes can play defense. The oddsmakers and the public are all over the Heat to win the NBA title this season but they have yet to prove anything.  The Lakers are two-time defending champs and they actually look better than they were last season. The Lakers are the team to beat this season and they may actually have some value in NBA betting simply because all of the attention is on the Heat.
