NBA Betting Favors the Lakers at New Orleans on Monday

NBA betting odds favor the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday as they visit the New Orleans Hornets. The Lakers are in the midst of a five-game road trip and they have played pretty well on the trip so far.  The Lakers have won seven of the last ten against the Hornets in this series but they are just 4-6 against the basketball betting odds.

NBA betting in this series this season has not been very competitive as the Lakers have won both games. Los Angeles won 104-88 at home back in November and they also won 110-99 in December.  This time the game will be in New Orleans. It may not matter since the Hornets are not playing well even with Chris Paul back in the starting lineup.  Paul wanted to come back from his injury and play in the last few weeks of the season but it now looks like that was a mistake. He does not look like he has fully recovered and the Hornets should have sat him out until next year.  New Orleans is just playing out the string anyway.

The Lakers have won four of the last five at New Orleans. Los Angles is usually a better wager in NBA betting on the road because they are laying fewer points.  At home the Lakers are always overvalued.  The Lakers have been overvalued this season even on the road and they have a losing record vs. the spread in road contests.

It is hard to go against the Lakers when they are on the road because the point spread is more appealing.  That is really the case in this game against a New Orleans team that does not look very good. Perhaps playing the Lakers will inspire the Hornets.  New Orleans is usually very good against the basketball betting odds at home but not this season.  The Hornets are going to finish with a losing record at home vs. the number. Part of that is because Chris Paul was hurt.  What has been happening with the Hornets at home though is that they go under the total.  New Orleans has not figured things out offensively since Paul came back.  Working him back into the lineup has not been as easy as it should have been.  Darren Collison has played well but he has not found a good chemistry with Paul.
