Minnesota Timberwolves at Dallas Basketball Betting

November 30, 2010 NBA Basketball

Basketball betting favors the Dallas Mavericks on Friday as they host the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Mavericks have really enjoyed playing the T’Wolves recently as they have won 16 of the last 18 meetings.  Dallas is 5-2 against the NBA betting line in the last seven games against Minnesota.

Basketball betting on the Timberwolves had them winning on Sunday, 112-91 at home against New York. Minnesota has not played since then so they are going to be well rested for this game against Dallas.  Kevin Love scored a career-high 25 points and Al Jefferson added 22 as the Timberwolves had their biggest win of the season against the Knicks.

Dallas has beaten Minnesota at home in the last seven meetings but every game has been close.  In fact, the last seven have all been decided by 9 points or less with the average margin of victory being just 4.7 points per game. The Mavericks won at Minnesota earlier this season 89-77 as Dirk Nowitzki had 20 points and 11 rebounds while Shawn Marion added 15 points.

11 of the last 14 games between the two teams have gone under the basketball betting total. Six of the last seven have stayed under in NBA betting. Minnesota has actually been going over the total in road games this season with 15 of their 24 road games going over the NBA betting total.

Minnesota is 11-13 on the road this season vs. the basketball betting odds. The Timberwolves are 23rd on offense in the league and 28th on defense.  Minnesota is a young team and for the most part they have struggled this season. They have won two straight though in basketball betting, although how much credit you get for beating the Knicks and Clippers is in debate.

Dallas has been terrible at home this season vs. the basketball betting odds.  Many will look to the Mavericks at home in this game against Minnesota but the trends really don’t support the Mavericks. Dallas may win but covering the spread looks like a dicey proposition in this NBA betting game.   The Mavericks haven’t done anything special this season as they are 15th on offense and 14th on defense but it has been good enough for them to lead their division.  This is starting to look like an old Dallas squad though and that is always a concern when you take a team like that in basketball betting.
