Jazz & Rockets in Basketball Betting on ESPN

December 19th, 2023 Live NBA Betting Lines

Basketball betting on Wednesday includes the Houston Rockets hosting the Utah Jazz in a game that can be seen on ESPN. The Jazz have won six of the last ten games against the Rockets although the teams have split against the NBA betting odds.

Basketball betting on the Jazz this season against the Rockets has been successful as the Jazz have won two of the three meetings.  Utah split the two games at Utah but won 104-95 at Houston.  This season the Jazz have been one of the more successful teams in the NBA against the point spread. Utah continues to excel at home and on the road. In previous seasons you could take the Jazz at home but on the road you really avoided them. That is not the case this season as Utah has a winning record vs. the point spread on the road.  Utah is 4th in the league in scoring and their defense is decent at 12th in the league.  The Jazz are still in the hunt for the second seed in the Western Conference so don’t expect them to have a letdown in this game at Houston on Wednesday.

Houston started off the season well but now they are struggling to stay above the .500 mark.  It may not happen since their remaining schedule is tough including this home game against the Jazz.  Houston has a losing record vs. the basketball betting odds at home and on the road.  Houston is 16-22 at home this season vs. the point spread.  The Rockets are capable of scoring some points as they are 11th in the league. They don’t play a lot of defense though as they are 20th in points allowed.  That should mean some high scoring games for the Rockets but they are just 50-50 in terms of over/unders. Even at home they have gone over the total only 20 times in their 38 games.

When you consider taking the Rockets in NBA betting you have to check the injury report. Houston has been decimated by injuries all season and it continues even late in the season. Kevin Martin was even on the injury report last week and he is a major scorer for the Rockets.  Houston is capable of winning and covering the spread at home but only if they have most of their offensive weapons healthy.
