Houston Rockets at Portland Basketball Betting

November 30, 2010 NBA Basketball

Basketball betting has Portland favored at home on Saturday as the host the Houston Rockets.

It is the last game of a four-game road trip for the Rockets.  The teams have split two meetings so far this NBA betting season, with each team winning on their home court.

Basketball betting saw Brandon Roy lead all scorers in the two games, averaging 31 points per game. Houston defeated Portland, 2-1, in last year’s series, with the home team winning each game. The Rockets have defeated the Trail Blazers in 18 of the last 23 regular season meetings.

Overall, the Rockets have won seven of the last ten against Portland but they are just 5-5 against the NBA betting line.  The Rockets nearly covered the basketball betting number in Portland earlier this season as they were getting 8.5 points and lost by nine. Houston has been a solid underdog this season and is always worth a look when they are getting points.

Houston has been much better than expected this basketball betting season. Without Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady, most people though the Rockets would fall apart. They haven’t done that and in fact, are winning against the basketball betting line, especially on the road.  The Rockets are right around the Top 10 in points scored per game. Their defense is suspect but most of the time the Rockets are getting points and that makes them worth a serious look in basketball betting.

Portland actually has been a little bit disappointing this season. They are above .500 but not by much. They have struggled against the basketball betting odds at home as well.  It used to be that Portland was a sure winner in NBA betting at home but not this year.  Portland is in the Top 5 in fewest points allowed as basketball betting stats show, but they have struggled on the offensive end.  Brandon Roy is averaging just 20 points per game this basketball betting season.  The Blazers still need more scoring options other than Roy.

This series has been very streaky in regards to the basketball betting total.  The last meeting in Houston went over the total but the previous five had all gone under in NBA betting.  Before that it was four straight games going over in basketball betting.  If the trends continue then this game may end up going over the total.
