Basketball odds have shifted on the series between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat with the series moving to Miami for games three and four. The Celtics were favored at home in the first two games but now the Heat are favored in NBA odds for Game 3 on Friday.
Basketball odds are not the only thing to shift for this series as ESPN is picking up the TV coverage for Friday. TNT had Game 2 earlier this week in this series. This has become the series that everyone wants to watch. The two teams have really pushed each other around. Kevin Garnett was ejected from Game 1 and suspended for Game 2. The Heat are the type of team that can play a physical game so it will be interesting to see how the series develops now that the next two games are in Miami.
The Celtics have more than held their own at Miami recently. Boston has won six of the last ten outright at Miami and they are 7-3 against the basketball odds. The Celtics won both games at Miami this season. They won 92-85 back in late November and they won 112-106 at Miami in early January.
Boston was far better on the road this season vs. the NBA odds than at home. The Celtics were terrible at home vs. the number but on the road they were slightly profitable at 21-19-1. Boston was 5th in the league on defense and normally defense will win you some games on the road. That might be tougher at Miami though since the Heat were the second best defensive team in the league. Miami really stepped up their defense this season and it really showed up during the last few weeks of the season when they were red-hot.
Taking Miami at home this season was no bargain. They were not as bad as Boston but the Heat still had a losing record vs. the point spread at home at 18-22-1. Miami was also a team that went under the total more often than they went over and that applied to home and road games this season. With a solid defense and no real scoring threats behind Dwyane Wade, the Heat can play some low scoring games. That could be the case here in Game 3 as the series shifts to Miami.
