Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Utah Jazz Game 4 Betting preview and analysis

Game 4: Thunder vs. Jazz NBA Games Betting Odds

April 23rd, 2018 NBA Basketball, Sportsbook

Utah won 48 NBA games in the regular season to the surprise of many.  Part of the surprise is that few teams are as anonymous as the Jazz.  They are certainly not a public choice with NBA games betting odds.  For sharps that is part of the appeal.  And why Utah finished the season in the black.   Oklahoma City is a far better-known franchise.  Russell Westbrook is the marquee man that Utah lacks.  Yet OKC finished in the red during the regular season.  In fact part of the problem is too much reliance on Westbrook.

Utah takes the Lead

Utah leads this best of seven playoff series two games to one.  Saturday saw the Jazz score a 115-102 payout.  Game two at Oklahoma City was a 102-95 Utah upset.  Game one went as expected with a 116-108 Thunder cover.  Ricky Rubio was the hero for Utah on Saturday.  Rubio dominated with 26 points, 10 assists, and 11 rebounds.  Fellow guard Donovan Mitchell also impressed scoring 22 with 11 boards.  Forward Joe Ingles added 21 more for the Jazz.  Center Rudy Gobert powered to 12 rebounds and 18 points for the home team.  Oklahoma City now finds themselves in trouble.

Profitability for NBA games betting odds by Utah is based on defense.  Offensively they ranked a subpar 19th in the NBA.  But defensively the Jazz ranked second best in the Association.  Mitchell was their leading scorer with 21 points per game in the regular season.  Head coach Quin Snyder has seen a career renaissance at Utah.  Fired by Missouri in 20016 he has spent a decade trying to get his reputation back.  A second straight winning season and playoff berth have helped.  An upset in this series won’t surprise.  Nor would it be a fluke.

Oklahoma City

Russell Westbrook must carry the Thunder if they are to advance.  As 2017 NBA most valuable player he is also team captain.  A seven-time NBA All Star Westbrook dominated again in the regular season.  Team highs of 25 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds were his.  So far in the playoffs Westbrook is averaging 21 points per game.  Paul George is averaging a team best 26 per game in this series.

Team vs Team

Head to head in this online sportsbook series Utah has had a slight edge.  Four payouts in the last seven games have gone to the Jazz.  Five of the last seven between Utah and the Thunder have gone under the total.  At Vivant OKC has paid out in just five of their last 14 visits.  Eight of the last nine have gone under the total in this matchup at Utah.

Matchup to Watch

Snyder has effectively held Westbrook in check with his defense.  Home court provides an additional NBA games betting odds advantage.  Momentum is against Oklahoma City after losing game two at home.
