Detroit Pistons at New Jersey Basketball Betting

January 4th, 2024 Live NBA Betting Lines

Basketball betting favors the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday as they face the New Jersey Nets. The Pistons have won eight of the last ten in this series against New Jersey although they are just 5-5 against the NBA betting odds. Basketball betting has not seen the Pistons and Nets play since last April.  Detroit came away with a 100-93 home win.  The Nets also won their home game a year ago, 111-98.  Winning has not been something New Jersey has done much of this season.  The Nets are 4-42 this season and on pace to finish with the worst mark in NBA history. They are not very good against the pointspread either.  The Nets are 16-30 against the NBA betting odds this season. At home they are 9-13 against the number.

New Jersey simply doesn’t have many positives. One of the few bright spots has been the play of center Brook Lopez.  He has started in every game for New Jersey this season. He is ranked third among all NBA centers, averaging 18.9 points per game. He has 16 double-doubles which is second among NBA centers.  He leads New Jersey in almost every important category this season.

Detroit Pistons has done very little this season so the Nets actually have a chance to win a game on Tuesday. The Pistons are 15-31 straight up and 19-26-1 against the NBA betting odds. They are 8-12-1 away from home this season against the basketball betting odds. Richard Hamilton averaged 20.3 points in three games against the Nets last year.

Four of the last five in this basketball betting series have gone over the total including the last two.  The Nets have been a team that goes under the basketball betting total at home. 14 of their 22 home games have gone under with one push.

Neither of these teams has many positive basketball betting trends. The Pistons are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 vs. the Atlantic. The Pistons are 5-18 ATS in their last 23 games overall. The Pistons are 2-8 in NBA betting in their last 10 road games. The Nets are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 Tuesday games.

Seven of the last eight Detroit games have gone under. The last six New Jersey games overall have gone under the basketball betting total. The only thing that suggests an over is that four of the last five in this series have gone over.
